The Sicily region

Palermo / Balestrate area
Balestrate is a former fishing village with approximately 7.000 inhabitants and is situated only 35km west of Palermo in the Gulf of Castellammare. Magnificent, kilometre-long beaches stretch west and east along the coast from the village. Behind the beach to the west of the village, there is a wood with Eucalyptus and Tamarisk. Balestrate offers everything you might need. Restaurants, bars, pubs, discotheque, supermarkets, bank machine, internet cafe. Monday is market day. In Balestrate you will find everything you need for scuba diving, angling and for motor boot sport. It also has a yacht marina. The dwelling in our centre does not mean alone to make use of the sea or of the coast or the rich one it is green campaign, since it offers also the possibility to catch up in less than an hour than machine places that are goal of international tourism Palermo, Solunto, Monreale and Cefalù for the immense artistic patrimony, Bottoming drills for its characteristic ones goes up of it and flour mills to wind, Agrigento for its splendid one goes them of the temples, Segesta for its Greek theatre and temple, Erice beautifulst city medioeval constructed on the montain, Selinunte with its greater archaeological park of Europe, Scopello, it reservoir of Zingaro, etc.

The local buses and train regularly work between the airport and the city. There are always taxi local available - but it is prudent as they can try to make the tourists to pay too much.

We organize upon demand the transfer from Palermo & Trapani airports to my flats in Balestrate.
Towels and linen are included, Towels and linen are changed every Saturday free.

Attic Lolita was very clean and comfortable, the top floor apartment in a nicely maintained property with three other apartments, including the owners. It has a large sunny private roof terrace with a full view of the bay. It was quiet, with the only noise from the Church Bells after siesta! Balestrate is a friendly small town with a central Square surrounded by small shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, and a Bank, all within 10 minutes walk, including the bus stop and train station with frequent services into Palermo city (about 1 hour). The nearest beach was 15 minutes walk, and the main beach about 25 minutes. The owners were very friendly and helpful, and we would certainly return there. We had a restful holiday, and enjoyed the short walks to the shops and beach, but a car would be necessary for those who prefer to explore outside Balestrate, or for those wanting more nightlife, clubs and bars.
