The apartment is right at the 'Piano Nobile' of a stunning Palazzo, and one of the most beautiful monuments of Palermo's Historical Centre: Palazzo Lungarini (15th-18th cents). You would be living in the part of the Palazzo originally occupied by the Settimo and after Abate-Lungarini family, the aristocratic family who built this palazzo as their home and lived there up to at least the 18th century. The owners of the apartment, who live in the rest of the Piano Nobile, are also an ancient Sicilian family, and they have kept the apartment classical in order to save the feeling of its original function. They are passionate about history and art, and usually share precious tips about the city with their guests.
The entrance of the apartment is by the grand landing on top of the red-marble staircase. The apartment is on two levels. On the bottom floor, the Piano Nobile, once inside, a corridor full of light leads to the Living room, with sofas and an ancient desk that can be also used for formal dining; an open kitchen decorated with colorful traditional majolica, spaceful enough to host you all for your meals or informal get together; a shower room; and a grand hall with a balcony on the monumental facade, high Cinquecento ceiling and fresco on the wall, that can be either used as an elegant drawing room or as a large triple bedroom. Upstairs there are two beautiful en-suite double bedrooms, one of which also provided with Cinquecento frescoes on the walls and a large bathtub in the bathroom.
The apartment can host up to 7 people and a baby. Children under 8 years of age go free.
Though in the heart of the exciting ancient quarter of the city, as soon as you enter the palazzo you find a tranquil courtyard with a Baroque fountain and a shady tree, something that you would share only with the few locals who live inside the palazzo. Coming out of the Palazzo, and in front of another one, you are at comfortable walking distance to all the principal attractions, including the church of San Francesco and the Oratorio di San Lorenzo down the road, the Historical Markets Vucciria, Ballarò and Capo, the Opera, the main museums as Palazzo Abatellis, Private Palazzos now opened to the public such as Palazzo Mirto down the road, or Palazzo Ganci at 3 minutes walk, sunny Piazzas as Piazza Marina and Piazza san Domenico, the sea side, the shady tropical trees in the Giardino Garibaldi, Villa Gulia or the Botanical Gardens, the shops of Sicilian Arts and Crafts (mainly leather and hats but also vintage, new craftsmanship and design), theatres, Restaurants, wine Bars, night Bars. The supermarket is at 2 minutes walk, a Sicilian deli down the road. A very talented hairdresser is on the same street.
A car is not required to visit the historic centre but if you are willing to take a car with you there is plenty of parking space in the nearby Piazza Marina and a space-full, economic pay park in the nearby Palazzo Aiutamicristo (via Garibaldi) open 24 hours a day.
We will be more than happy to pick you up at the bus stop coming from the airport. We can book for you: airport to city and back taxi transfer, beach club entrances and taxi transfer to/from it. We organize Cooking Classes. We can hire: a cook, a dayly cleaner, a baby sitter to come to the house and/or take your children to a children show or the puppet museum nearby, an Italian-Language teacher, a Masseuse (for women only).

The Sicily region
Sicily is amazing for hollidays all year long. A Sicilian trip means Nature, mountains, countriside, beautiful beaches and small islands, the Vulcano; a lot of History, Art, Architecture and Archaeology; delicious Foods and Wines, fashinating markets; friendly, easygoing, often stylish and well-educated people
Palermo is not on the beach but it is by the sea, and it is possible to stroll along the Marina and/or the Cala, the ancient port, now the turist port while staying in the heart of the historic centre
Palermo is a fashinating city with several important museums (Palazzo Abatellis being our priority advice), hundreds of beautiful and often stunning churches of different periods, private palazzos (sometimes opened to the public), lots of theatres and two operas, large monumental piazzas, narrow old streets, ancient markets. You will not just see, hear about and lern, but also you will be able to 'breath, drink and eat', several ancient cultures while here.
Our advice is not to take a car and walk around, using a bus or a taxi at occasions, for example to go to the beach in Mondello, Palermo's beach district, where the sea is the colord of emerald and one can also check on the art-nouveau architecture along the main boulevard
The house is in one of the ancient quarters within the historic centre. Between Piazza Marina and Piazza San Francesco, near the Cala (the old port), and the ancient market of the Vucciria, not far at all from the Station and the Bothanical Gardens.
The area is very lively both during the day and at night. However, inside the palazzo one enters another world, a world of peace and almost 'time travelling'
Not only over twenty major monuments and sites, but also a supermarket, the ancient market, an organic-deli mini market, a couple of corner shops, a beauty shop, a hairdresser, a beauty salon, different typical-Sicilian-craft shops, different cafes, restaurants and night bars are at a few minutes distance (we talk 2 minutes, if you walk farther there will be more... and we are looking forward to advice on aur favourites as soon as you arrive).

"Beautiful apartment in a great location in old city."
This is a wonderful place to stay if you like old houses and furniture, which we do. Very elegantly furnished, large rooms, comfortable bed and good bathrooms and all spotlessly clean. All linen provid… More
Thank you for the nice words and especially for letting me know about the negative sides as well. I haven't been able to enlarge the balcony of the ancient building, nor the even more ancient street for more sun to come in, but I have purchased a nice kitchen worktop that can be moved around. Now the guests who will come next, or you if/when you come back, will be able to prepare a proper meal with the goodies from the market!
