My home is a traditional terraced house, 3 building down the waterfront in a typical narrow street. Apartment "Sularo" on the second floor: a suitable living room with antiques pieces of furniture and oriental carpet and local artist's works on the walls, is adjoining the private sunny terrace with outdoor furniture. Fully equipped kitchen with seaview balcony, bathroom, laundry corner. A bedroom with double bed, bathroom en-suite with shower enclosure and a smaller terrace on the loft. Independent heating and air conditionated bedroom.

The Sicily region
A trip to Sicily allows you to understand why for the ancients the island was so important: the sun an the warm temperature, the wheat's fields, the hills in the middle so green in springtime so dark brown in summer, the clear sea waters abounding in fish, the colours, the sounds, the perfumes....that's the land of myths! And today you can still find the myth in its magical landscapes, in the powerness of the nature, in the beauty of the monuments, in the flavoured taste of the food...Sicily is the centre of the Mediterranean culture.
Palermo / Aspra - Bagheria area
Aspra faces the Monte Pellegrino and the gulf of Palermo; it is a pretty village off the beaten track where you can experience the warmth of Sicilians and is the perfect place where your discovery tour of Sicily can starts. Along the seafront there are plenty of restaurants, pizzeria, take away, italian bars and ice cream parlours, as well as all kind of basic shops and services such as: post office, bank, chemist, tobacconist, newsagent, parfumerie, gift shops, supermarket, inery and local special food sho at maximum 200mt away. Fish is sold beside bothharbours and by he way ...Palermo is only 15km away!! The nearest Golf Course is 50 km (28 miles) 30/40 minutes drive from my house. It is opened all year round. Altitude 74 mt on level sea; 18 holes, mt 6004, Par 72; practical field, pitching green, putting green. In summer from 1st June to 30th september boat rides along our amazing coast, available by my own motorboat. In august, traditional sailing boat trips, for free, operated by fisherman's organisation. In September a traditional festa takes place, with boat races, acquatic games and the mystic procession of the Madonna statue carried on the boat and followed by the fisherman's families on their own boat. Daily fair and a fantastic fireworks display perfomed on the sea platform at the end of the celebration. In the local branch of the Naval League, the scuba diving centre "Pagine di mare" proposes, beyond to the attainment of licences IDEA (considering a permanence of at least 10 days)), guided biological and archaeological tour. The staff highly specialized will guide you in the sea before the ancient citadel of Solunto to the search of remains of the V sec. BC, stocks of roman anchors and rests of Punic, Greek and Roman amphoras; you will encounter as well the multicolour flora and fauna of the most famous points of immersion of the zone like the rock “Formica” considered a probable compass ante litteram of the Phoenician people for its perfect alignment with the 4 cardinal points or, still along the Wall of the Gulls of the Capo Zafferano between chromium plated sponges and gorgonie astroides, octopuss, murene and candle fish.
How to get there
Fly to Palermo Punta-Raisi; Aspra is just 40km far from the airpot. Cheap flights available operated by Ryan Air from London Stanstead to Palermo. On arrival you can get to Aspra by hiring a car, in this case I suggest to visit www.sbc.it Sicily by Car which allows good fares and I will send detailed information and a map to reach easily the house. The cheapest and quickest way is by catching the train at the airport buying a one way TKT to Bagheria for € 6.05 (the train will take you to Palermo Centrale in 40 min then you must change wagon and continue to Bagheria; there are plenty trains leading in 10 minutes Palermo/Bagheria). I'll collect you in Bagheria for free. Otherwise, I can arrange your transfer from/to the airport for €40 total one way, up to 3 people.

We spent 4 weeks here and every day was a delight. We travelled around Sicilia but were always happy to return to aspra where we felt "at home". Antonella is a great hostess. she is always willing to help..to let us use her internet..to make reservations to hotels, to restaurants. we will happily recommend her apartments to our friends in Canada. Not only is the flat very comfortable and well equipped but they went to the trouble to meet us at the station, to ensure that we had enough food to keep us going until we could get to the shops, to take us round Palermo and to treat us to a splendid meal(which was at least as good if not betterthan those we ate in restaurants) on our last night.
