Home description
An old renovated house accurately finished and pleasantly furnished, my home is a traditional terraced house, 3 buildings down the waterfront, in a typical narrow street with a lateral sea view, but only a few steps from the house you will enjoy a fantastic view: the gulf of Palermo from Monte Pellegrino and Capo Gallo to Monte Catalfano and Capo Mongerbino. The apartment "Stadda" on the groundfloor is about 100sqm plus a small courtyard and a terrace with outdoor furniture. There are 2 bedrooms: the main bedrooms is a loft with original wooden ceiling, queensize bed, sofabed and bathroom with tub en suite. The second bedroom is on the ground: twin beds or queensize bed on request; attached bathroom with shower enclosure. The kitchen includes a dining area (sits 6) and a relaxing area with couch and laundry room. The sitting room is the largest room in the house: 2 couches, tv corner, lounge bar under a wooden ceiling and an old sandstone arch whose stones were carved by my husband's ancestors in the caves all around Aspra. Independent heating and air conditioned bedrooms.

The Sicily region
A trip to Sicily allows you to understand why for the ancients the island was so important: the sun and the warm temperature, the forest, the wheat fields, the hills in the middle so green in springtime so dark brown in summer, the clear sea waters abounding in fish, the colours, the sounds, the perfumes....that's the land of myths! And today you can still find the myth in its magical landscapes, in the powerness of the nature, in the beauty of its monuments, in the flavoured taste of the food...Sicily is the centre of the Mediterranean culture.
Palermo / Aspra - Bagheria area
Away from luxury tourism, Aspra is a charming fisherman's village only 15 km from Plaermo; it'is a genuine place where you can experience the warmth of sicilians: With its lovely church, the fabulous '700 Bagheria old villas nearby, it is the perfest place where your Sicily tour can start. Pebbly, sandy and rocky beaches just crossing the road. Along the seafront there are plenty of restaurants, pizzerie, take away, italian bars and ice cream parlours, as well as all kind of basic shops and services, such as: post office, bank, chemist, tobacconist, newsagent, parfumerie, gift shops, supermarket, winery and local special food shop at maximum 200mt away. Fish is sold beside both harbours and by the way...Palermo is only 15km away! The nearest golf course is 50 km (28 miles) 30/40 min drive from my house. It is opened all year round; altitude 74mt on sea level; 18 holes, mt 6004, Par 72; practical field, pitching green, putting green. From 1st june to 30th september boat rides available along our amazing coast by my own motorboat. In august traditional sailing boat trips for free, operated by fisherman's organisation. In september a traditional festa takes place, with boat races, acquatic games and the mystic procession of the Madonna statue carried on the boat and followed by the fisherman's families in their own boat. Daily fair and a fantastic fireworks display performed on the sea platform at the ned of the celebration. In the local branch of the Naval League, the scuba diving centre "Pagine di mare" proposes, beyond to the attainment of licences IDEA (considering a permanence of at least 10 days)), guided biological and archaeological tour. The staff highly specialized will guide you in the sea before the ancient citadel of Solunto to the search of remains of the V sec. BC, stocks of roman anchors and rests of Punic, Greek and Roman amphoras; you will encounter as well the multicolour flora and fauna of the most famous points of immersion of the zone like the rock “Formica” considered a probable compass ante litteram of the Phoenician people for its perfect alignment with the 4 cardinal points or, still along the Wall of the Gulls of the Capo Zafferano between chromium plated sponges and gorgonie astroides, octopuss, murene and candle fish.

It took us a few days to realise we were not staying next to a mosque and soon took advantage of the street vendors..the king prawns are a must! You have made our stay most pleasurable and we all feel fully refreshed after our stay! Harald, Karin, Ariane, Simone & Charlie 5/07 D Antonella & Gaetano make wonderful hosts. Aspra is a delightful town and we enjoyed the melodic crys of the friut and vegetable vendors. Not to be missed is a trip to Lipari and hiring a scooter to enjoy the remarkable coastline. For thrill seekers a drive to the middle of Palermo is just for you. Michael & Allida Sidney 3/4/07-27/4/07 As William Shakespeare once said!! Staying at your house has been such a dream Driving in your car has been such a scream Eating at your house has been such a pleasure Spending time on your boat has given memories we will treasure!! Thank you a million times for making our second visit even better than the first. From Eileen, Caolan, Rian & Chris 8/07 UK With your help and guidance we have discovered sicily from Marsala to Cefalů. Your knowledge & passions showed us Palermo we eill never forget. More importantly the people - the locals and you & Gaetano - were the reason why we have enjoyed each and every day. The boat trip also showed us the the beaty of sicilian rocky coast. We couldn't fault a thing - the weather, the food, the wine, the hosts - everything was perfect. It inspired us in many different ways and long for Sicily even before our departure. lots of love.
