Balestrate are numerous restaurants and Pizzaplaces, famous for the perfect food and regional specialties, often prepared with vegetables, or fresh from the sea. It's worth spending a holiday in Balestrate, not only for beautiful places to visit, but also for the typical Sicilian hospitality.
A pearl, a melting pot of civilizations of the past, the centre of the Mediterranean Sea. Palermo has been for centuries the capital of maritime trade and port for the peoples of the lands bordering the "Mare Nostrum". Conquered the Phoenicians, was the principal city of Magna Grecia, Roman colony, Arabs and Normans and Spaniards, and the Angevin and the Swabians.
All in Palermo exudes richness of cultures, red-domed churches, from San Giovanni Martorana hermits, display the manufacture of the peoples of the East, the market is increasing the historic charm of Arabia, the architecture of the centre tells the influences of different people, all equally fascinated by the city "all doors" (Panormus).
And those who have reached the sea and those who were to enjoy the mountains, enjoying the sparkling view of the Conca d'Oro, the valley planted with citrus groves that, illuminated by the sun, shining like the most precious metal. Sicily and Palermo as its capital, evokes the purity of flavours, the abundance of fruits of a rich and kissed by the sun for most of the year.
All that Palermo has its characteristic strong and ingrained. Customs of its inhabitants, dialect as influenced by Arabic and Spanish to allow Palermo to feel more like the peoples of East and some of his compatriots and foreigners to understand what is good, with some even speak their language. Palermo is famous for its mild climate, but also the pleasures of the palate. And, if you stand out among the cakes and cannoli quashed, where the queen is the ricotta, part of the "salt", which has roots in Palermo doc genuine traditions of behaviour. Take for example the bread cha meus ", ie the sandwich-pie stuffed with bovine spleen. A speciality of which are related to the rites and customs, as well as bread and cake with a sandwich, or so-called "stigghioa 'entrails of lamb roast or grilled meats, often on street corners. Not to mention the arancine: a devotion . Of course, to reel off the culinary tradition of Palermo there are not enough books.
Ecstatic to leave the visitors, help with art nouveau buildings, monuments, mansions, theatres. Teatro Massimo, the second in Europe after the Paris Opera, has returned to its former glory in 1997, after years of inactivity.
Walking through the historic centre of the city is still recognizes the old main road inside the walls of which are still preserved some of doors. One of the two main streets, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, previously called Cassaro, stands the imposing cathedral. In the outer part of the town, now incorporated in the city, the Parco della Favorita, a former king, now green lung of the city, beyond which there is the seaside resort of Palermo, Mondello.
Beautiful and popular tourist destination in the province of Palermo.
Balestri is situated in the Gulf of Castellammare bathed by the Tyrrhenian Sea, is located near one of the cleanest seas on the coast of Sicily.
Its position is enviable to visit the most beautiful places in western Sicily, fine art historian who is the province of Palermo and Monreale and Cefalu, charming areas in the province of Trapani as Erice, San Vito Lo Capo, the nature of Zingaro reserve or known archaeological sites, Selinunte, Segesta and Mozia.
It offers to visitors and tourists for its beautiful beaches and crystal clear sea, with colours ranging from emerald green to blue, golden sand and the end is compared to a carpet of velvet. Crowns this charming green forest of eucalyptus, pine and tamarind.
At the centre of the coast there is the marina recently opened a flagship for the country and shelter for fishing boats and pleasure craft.

"LOVELY! nice flat, super clean, impressed by hospitality: recommended!"
I spent 5 days at "Villa Piera" and loved it!
The flat: it's very large, exactly as described, but much nicer when there! Mr and Mrs Saputo really looked after every detail in there to make guests feel confortable....
Rooms are big, beds very comfortable, bathroom very large. Flat extremely clean.
I particularly enjoyed the terrace upstairs. Amazing views and... shower! I strongly suggest having one, with views on seaside and hills...
The village: it's a cosy little village, very authentic, people very welcoming. Beaches are walking distance and seaside is amazing. Good choice of restaurants, cafe, bakeries...
We rented a car, but that is common in Italy I would say.
With no car, train station is nearby and walking distance, buses run as well. You can still reach the closeby Castellammare sul Golfo, Palermo or Trapani.
I've been overall impressed by the hospitality and availability of the owner, mrs Piera. She really made her best to make us feel at home, giving us advise every day, yet giving us a lot of privacy!
Mrs PIera can also arrange transfer from airports or sourrounding areas, she did it for us on a very short notice. Definitely a plus!
overall strongly recommended, I couldn't believe it was such a good value for money!

"Go for the rooftop view"
Owners made us very welcome nothing too much trouble. appartment very well equiped view from balcony disappointing but rooftop view was better. sea and beach not as near as described and was rather dirty but great for swimming and deserted but no amenities. Good variety of bars and restaurants in the evenings but you need a car to explore further. Loved the people and food and scenery.
