Apartment | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
On the 6th floor of a block-building, on the scenic route on the northern coast of Palermo, you will find the self-catering, romantic 130 m² apartment with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, spacious and comfortable living-dining room, independent full kitchen. Bright and sunny, it also offers outdoor living with its 3 panoramic flowery small terraces facing the sea, one of them equipped with large dining table for 4, another one equipped with a table for 2 persons. There is an elevator, reserved parking place in the courtyard with electrical gate.
The apartment is centrally heated and air-conditioned, making it cosy and comfortable all year round, and is furnished with TV and telephone. Very friendly people live in the building. It is a strategic base camp to visit Palermo, to visit Sicily. Frequen buses link the quarter to the city center and to Mondello beach resort as well: the bus stop is just dowstairs.
The quarter was a fishermen hamlet; the old "tonnara" on the beautiful beach just across the road is the main attraction. It is a 15th century complex, which has been widely transformed during the centuries; it has been a tuna fishing and processing plant until the 1950s, together with some other ones around Palermo and on the other coasts of Sicily. Afterwards, the building has been neglected for over 40 years. Nowadays, just in summer, the old tonnara becomes a lively intense movida goal with dance music under the stars.

The Sicily region
One week to visit Palermo with its spectacular mosaics (Cappella Palatina, La Martorana, San Giovanni degli Eremiti); the Norman Palace, Favorita Park and the old town. Don't miss the Archaeological Museum of Sicily. Explore the harbour and Arenella beach and Monte Pellegrino. Visit Monreale high above Palermo for mosaics and then drive to Segesta to the Greek temple and Greek theatre.
Two weeks are just enough to visit Sicily. Spring, summer, autumn even winter are the seasons for beautiful beaches and swimming in the clear seas. (Enjoy Mondello, the wonderful white sandy beach that is unique in Sicily). Winter is perfect for many day trips. Sicily is enjoyable all year round. Mediterranean cuisine, special wines (Don't miss a seafood dinner with a great wine made in Sicily), volcanoes, white beaches, clear seas, several intact Greek temples, more than Greece.
In the western Sicily, reach the village of Erice to see over to Trapani, see salt production, go by boat to the Island of Mozia to see its museum with the Mozia Youth, the wonderful marble statue. Don't miss Agrigento, of course, the Valley of the Temples, the Archeological Museum and the old town. In the central Sicily: drive inland to the Imperial Villa of Piazza Armerina with its beautiful Roman mosaics, visit the high village of Enna. Go to the Lake of Pergusa where the myth of Persephone and Demetre is born.
The apartment is located at seaside, in a nice fishermen hamlet, halfway between Palermo and Mondello; the beach is the main attraction, as well as the old tonnara, just across the road. It is a 15th century complex, which has been widely transformed during the centuries; it has been a tuna fishing and processing plant until the 1950s, together with some other ones around Palermo and on the other coasts of Sicily. Afterwards, the building has been neglected for over 40 years. Now, it offers a charming good restaurant by the sea and, in summer, jazz concerts under the stars. There are several good restaurants in the area: the one just downstairs is favoured for his pizza, the other one across the road, offers a Mediterranean menu with a lot of ultra-fresh fish coming from the local fish market day by day. There are several food shops within just a few minutes. Frequent buses link the village to Palermo centre and to Mondello resort as well.
