The Tuscany region

Tuscany is a great area to explore. You have the variety from the world renouned cities (Florence, Pisa, Siena, Lucca) to the myriad of small towns to explore (San Gimignano, Lari, Casciana Terme, Montaoine, Monteriggioni) to the grand costal resorts (Viareggio, Camaiore, Forte dei Marmi). And then you could add in the natural beauty of the Garfagnana, Cinque Terre national park, Torre del Lago (where Puccini spent his final years). And I could go on ...................

Palaia

Built on the remains of a medieval 12th Century fortified castle, Castello di Alica is composed of two main buildings; the oldest building was once a Carthusian monastery used by pilgrims on their journey to Rome whilst the 16th century Villa was used as a manor house and contains some beautiful 18th century frescos.
