Home description
Traditionally built from sand and coral stone walls and mangrove poles, with Cyprus wooden plank floors surrounded by elevated walkways and large verandas all capped by a magnificent Makuti (coconut leaf) roof. The main entrance is across the main veranda and through a traditionally carved Zanzibari door into the very large living room which is beautifully decorated with traditional spears and shields and antique furniture.
This luxury 2 bedroom villa has large gardens with outside hammocks and sunbeds, a shared swimming pool, and is a short from to the beach and local village.

The Zanzibar region
Island is approx. 100km in length and 70km in the breadth.
The rest of the island and all the sights are never more than a 1 and half hour drive. Transfers and car hire can be arranged. There are several 1 day and half day activities and tours we offer. We also have a range of longer tours, car hire and transfers.
All our tours leave your villa at a reasonable hour +-7am after breakfast in the morning and we will have you back early afternoon +- 1pm or well before dark for evening dinner at +-6pm!

All tours are susceptible to the season, the local weather conditions and limited capacity.
Listed below are the main activities we offer but we can also tailor-make anything you like or you can simply hire a car with a driver or a motorbike and do your own thing. An international driving license is required should you wish to drive on Zanzibar.
Spice tour
On the spice tour we travel to the central and western parts of the Island where an abundance of vegetation exists. Depending on the season you may taste, see and smell up to 50 different fruits, spices and plants on the Island whilst visiting plantations. • This is a half or full day tour • Inclusive all entry, transfers, guide and lunch packet • Cost based on Min. 2 persons
Prison Island and the Giant Tortoises
This historical Island was formerly owned by an Arab and used for the confinement of refractory slaves. Later it was bought by General Matthews who erected a jail in 1893 and which still stands today, hence the name Prison Island. The main attraction of the island these days is to meet the giant tortoises but also to enjoy the beautiful beach and take advantage of the excellent snorkelling.

Stonetown tour
This is a mainly an historic tour which includes the following sights:
• The Old Fort dating back since 1700, • The “House of Wonder“, the People's • Palace, • The Mosque at Malindi, • The Catholic and Anglican cathedrals. , • The city market located on the site of the old • Slave Market • The National Museum. • Livingstone House gives visitors an insight into Zanzibar’s rich history, including the house in which Freddie Mercury the famous singer with the group “Queen” was born and grew up • The Mambo Msiige “the imitable thing,” • The Persian Baths and the Ithnasheri Clinic • The Old British Consulate
We will have plenty of time also to wander the small back streets in search of antiques and souvenirs such as Tinga-Tinga paintings, Makonde carvings, tie & dye materials, khangas, coffee, coconut liquor, clove oil, Masai jewellery, spices and art. We will end our day with a sundowner on the terrace of the Africa house the place to be at sundown...

Other tours

Paje area
Coral reef snorkelling by local canoe
This trip is organized by our local fishermen who are able to take you out from our beach in their wooden dug out canoes. The reef is only a couple of hundred meters away and the snorkelling is just a couple of meters deep. This is a wonderful few hours spent admiring the many coloured corals and fish. A very nice trip for children… Price fluctuates But is +- USD.10.p.p.
ZALA Reptile Park
Is a zoological collection of the reptiles and other small mammals such as Hyrax and antelope native to Zanzibar set in a small natural forest.
The goal of ZALA Park zoo is to have living examples of all the reptiles of Zanzibar. There are now about twenty five species of snake and lizard kept in enclosures putting the animals in their natural habitat. The snake collection includes pythons, a Mozambique spitting cobra, Boomslangs (tree snakes), and a green mamba as well as smaller species. Chameleons, hyrax, small antelopes and monitor lizards are on view as well.

Dolphin and whale watching
Common and spinner dolphins and false killer whale may be seen in Zanziabr. For this trip we travel to southern part of the Island, where the dolphin’s can be found, and often we enjoy a dolphin jumping display as they swim alongside the boat. If conditions are right, and we are lucky, we may even get to swim with them.

Jozani forest
Jozani forest is the only remaining natural mangrove forest on Unguja / Zanzibar Island and, with it’s rare indigenous Red Colobus monkey, it is a heaven for nature lovers! With a rich variety of bird species and other small wild life we will take a local guide to lead us through the forest and nature trails. • This is a half day tour • Inclusive park entry, transfers, guide and lunch packet • Cost based on Min. 2 persons
Diving and PADI world class diving off Zanzibar and Pemba.
there is a local diving centre. Here we have special rates for our guests who book in advance. Apart from diving all around the island they offer all PADI courses from beginners to masters.

How to get there
Most international flights go via Nairobi, Kenya. Airport, sea port are in Stonetown which are approx 60 km, 1 hour away on tar roads from the villa. Rest of the island and all the sights are never more than a 1 and half hour drive away. Transfers and car hire can be arranged by us on request.

The kitchen is open plan found at the far end of the living area it is well equipped with service for 6 people, electric hob, toaster, electric kettle and microwave/combi oven. Stock room fitted with storage cupboards and a fridge/freezer. Cleaning equipments and Hoover, iron etc
The Teak Bedroom: A traditional queen-sized Zanzibar four poster bed is carved from Teak.
'The Coconut Bedroom': A traditional king sized Zanzibar four poster bed is carved from coconut. both bedrooms have the following: proper full wardrobes, large safe, bedside tables, chair, Ceiling fan and air conditioning.
Both bedrooms are En suite with spacious and romantic bathrooms, made in local terrazzo is set with a large 2 person’s sunken bath, which is fitted with a hot and cold running shower, 2 washbasins with mirrors and wc.
Further details outdoors: In Africa most of the time is spent outside the main veranda which is 10m x 5m with a large dining table and chairs on the side walkways there are 2 hammocks, more chairs and small tables for sitting quietly. Front garden has your own private bar with 6 stools, BBQ, 2 sun loungers and umbrellas The garden has a small water hole where the dik diks and other antelopes come to drink

All linen and towels are provided and with maid service every day as you require, she will do your dish washing and clothes too on request.
