Lambs Gate
About the home
Lambs Gate is a wonderful refurbished cottage, decorated to an exceptionally high standard with a light airy feel flowing throughout, offering spacious accommodation for a family of four. One of eight luxurious 4 STAR self-catering cottages set high up on a hill-top, Lambs Gate boasts one of the most impressive far reaching views in the area. The landscape unfolding in front of you takes in the rolling undulating hills of the South Hams (a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) with the majestic heights of Dartmoor and her tors balanced in the distance. Watching the sunset over this glorious scene literally takes your breath away!
Although set in a beautiful rural location, a heavenly oasis of 42 acres of woodland and pasture, reached by a half mile private track, local amenties are only 2 miles away and a 15th Century Old Devon Longhouse serving good pub food is just 0.5 miles away - a few minutes walk away from the members only leisure centre featuring indoor heated swimming pool, learner pool, sauna, steam room and gym. All of our guests become members of this facility and have free unlimted access throughout their stay.
Guests are free to roam over the land and through the woods, taking in the abundance of wildlife - buzzards, herons, mallards and the odd cormorant are daily visitors. For dusk walkers, sightings of the resident badgers, foxes and rabbits are not uncommon.

The West Country / Devon region

South Devon is a popular holiday destination, boasting some of the highest temperatures during the summer months in England. Paignton is part of an area encompassing Torquay and Brixham - a beautiful unspoilt fishing harbour town, commonly known as the English Rivera. Oldway Mansion in the heart of Paignton was once the home of the Singer family, founders of the famous Sewing Machine. Agatha Christie was born and bred in Torquay, The Princess Theatre on the sea front often shows productions written by this legend.
Three miles from Lambs Gate is the lovely town of Totnes which has a fabulous market every Friday in the heart of the town - plenty of local produce, a lot of organic, very orginal foods and some marvellous interesting artefacts! During the summer months, Elizabethan dress is almost compulsory with the locals going about their everyday business on a Tuesday. The town is definitely worth a visit - plenty of great eating places and some great Tea rooms with irresistible home made cakes!
The English Riviera boasts 22 miles of coastal paths and countless sandy beaches, the nearest is Goodrington Sands but Blackpool Sands is definitely worth a visit - you may have to pay to park in the car park but once it's full no one else is allowed onto this golden beach, therefore never crowded and just fabulous really clean facilities.
During the months of June, July and August there are countless fetes, fairs, festivals, carnivals - literally something happening every week.
