One covered verandah is furnished with teak furniture for our guests to enjoy their meals, and the other which has a pergola and bamboo furniture is perfect for enjoying ones coffee or drinks or reading a book, looking over the town of Rethymno and the Cretan sea. A staircase leads to the ground floor and the four bedrooms, two of which contain double beds and the other two twin beds. On the ground floor there are another two bathrooms, one with a sit-in Jacuzzi while the other is stand-up. The utility room is complete with washing machine and storage shelves. The floors throughout are white marble.

Walking over the grass brings us to the barbeque. It is a 40sq m ceramic roof-tiled area where guests can enjoy traditional cooking on the charcoal grill or in the wood stove sitting on traditional cypress furniture without requiring any utensils from the kitchen as it includes a refridgerator, sink and cupboard complete with crockery and cutlery.

About this location
The Rethymnon Prefecture region
Giannoudi lies 3km from Rethymnon which is in the centre of the northern axis of Crete. Giannoudi, as all of the other defensive Venetian settlements , is situated on a hill, built in an amphitheatre shape, with views towards the Cretan sea.
The Greek state has characterised Yiannoudi as an area of particular cultural value. The surrounding area, the Prasses gorge and the river at the foot of the settlement have been described as an area of great natural beauty.
Three kilometers from eastern beaches of Rethymno, fifteen minutes from the old town and the old port, approximately one hour from Chania and Heraklion Yiannoudi makes for a convenient base for any excursions.
Rethymno combines rarely united features: the old town's charm and history, with proximity to a long sandy beach.
Although it is the third largest town in Crete, Rethimnon never feels like a city as Chania and Heraklion do.Instead, it has a provincial air; it's a place that moves slowly and the most important preserves much of its Venetian and Turkish appearance.
You can enjoy arriving by ferry and be "there" close to the centre of the Old Town, just a 5 minute walk away (newly built harbours on many Greek islands are now far from the center, removing the romance of arriving IN the place you are visiting!).
There are two sides to Rethymno offering two styles of visit: the endless big beach hotel strip that stretches from the east end of Rethymno, lapping up the coastal "villages" of Perivolia, Platanias, Adelianos Kambos, Pigianos Kambos, Sfakaki, Stavromenos and Skaleta - and - the Rethymno that allows you the character of the old town with its mix of architecture and history, cultural influences and styles ranging from Venetian to Ottoman empire. We present the second and more romantic choice - leaving the all-inclusive beach and booze tours to others.
"Before leaving the beach, we should mention that there are other visitors - the turtles. Turtles are regular visitors along the beaches of Rethymno and return between June and August to lay their eggs each year.

"Amazing, beautiful and tranquil"
Absolutely beautiful villa located on the hillside overlooking the sea. The owners (Michael and Popi) take a lot of care in not only looking after the villa, but also their guests, and are very welcoming. We have been several times and look forward to our next visit.
