About the home

This stunning development of twenty-eight 4 Star Rated stylish and contemporary holiday villas is set within the St Merryn Holiday Village on the outskirts of St Merryn, just three miles from Padstow and close to seven spectacular bays. The village of St Merryn is about a mile from the holiday villas where the amenities include a shop, several restaurants and pubs including The Cornish Arms where the famous Rick and Jill Stein are now the new landlords.

Bay Retreat Villas - all brand new from autumn 2008 - provide modern living with a high standard of comfort throughout.

Ideally located just three miles from the popular Medieval estuary town of Padstow - noted for its busy fishing harbour and Rick Stein's famous restaurants. Across the estuary there is Rock, the magnificent sands of Daymar and a little further, Polzeath.

There are seven bays all within easy reach from Bay Retreat with the nearest, Constantine Bay, just three miles away. Just a short drive south along the coast are Watergate Bay and Newquay.

Each self catering property has two bedrooms on the first floor and a kitchen and lounge/diner leading onto a private timber decked terrace and small lawned garden on the ground floor.

All bookings are subject to a booking fee of £25.00.

A £150.00 deposit is required in order to confirm the booking and the balance is payable 4 weeks before the commencement of the holiday.

A security bond of £100.00 is required upon payment of the balance, which is refunded following your departure, in line with our terms and conditions.

Payment can be made by debit card, credit card or cheque with no surcharge.

Accommodation available from 4pm on day of arrival.
Please vacate on day of departure by 10am.

The West Country / Cornwall region

What ever time of year you choose to visit North Cornwall you can be guaranteed of plenty to do. You can enjoy rugged cliff top or quiet countryside walks, cycling, surfing or relaxing on many glorious sandy beaches. Cornwall really is a place of outstanding natural beauty.

Enjoy the cultural centres of Penzance, St Ives, Mousehole and Lands End which all have their own charm. Visit the Minack theatre where you can enjoy an outside performance with an enchanting back drop. Don't forget to bring your picnic hamper and wine! A must for Restaurant lovers is Jamie Oliver's "fifteen" at Watergate Bay. It's a good idea to book on line before you come down to avoid disappointment if you want to eat here!

Newquay boasts the only zoo in Cornwall, where they fully support overseas conservation. The Blue Reef Aquarium allows you to have a close encounter with a shark or stingray!

The Padstow / St Merryn area

The beautiful River Camel estuary and the Camel Trail cycleway connects the delightful and picturesque towns of Wadebridge and Padstow. From your holiday home base the fishing town of Padstow which has now become famous through Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant, his cafes and shops, is a gastronomic haven. Wadebridge town has enjoyed a resurgence in its fortune through the prosperity of Padstow and both are well worth a visit whilst on holiday in Cornwall 2011.

Away from your self catering accommodation you can enjoy river and sea cruises to spot the local coastal wildlife, fishing or just take the family to the many beaches around Padstow. You could also take a ferry from Padstow harbour to Rock made popular with the London Café Society. The late poet Laureate John Betjeman wrote poems about his beloved North Cornwall and is buried in St Enodoc churchyard which you can visit on one of the many lovely walks around the coastline.

Wadebridge used to be a market town but now bustles with lovely modern shops and restaurants and nearby it hosts the Royal Cornwall Show every June. The expansion of Newquay Airport has seen Wadebridge and Padstow gain popularity and with Newquay only 20 minutes away by car it is now the surfing capital of the UK. Also by car you can visit the Eden Project near St Austell and the spectacular scenery of Bodmin Moor and Jamaica Inn is certainly worth a visit.
