Home description
L'Ancresse Barn was designed to make the most of the magnificent views of the Camel Estuary. The interior designed with luxury in mind. The patio doors in the sitting room are 18 feet wide & there are picture windows in the main bedroom all with superb views. This gives the house a wonderful feeling of space & light.
The living area of the house is open plan & the large patio windows allow views from the kitchen as well as the sitting & dining areas. The great benefit of an open plan design is it creates a wonderful holiday atmosphere as nobody is left out of the fun.
The interior is a very stylish contemporary design with beamed ceilings & solid oak floors, a wood burning stove & a bespoke showroom kitchen & utility room. There are 4 bedrooms sleeping 8 in comfort & one occasional loft bedroom with a double futon bed, 3 stylish en-suite bathrooms with limestone tiling & very high quality fittings, a large west facing floodlit terrace & gardens with magnificent uninterrupted views to Padstow, the Camel Estuary & the sea.

The West Country / Cornwall region
L'Ancresse Barn is ideally situated for your North Cornwall holiday at any time of year being a short cycle ride from the lovely harbour town of Padstow via the famous Camel Trail & a short drive from the beautiful beaches at Harbour Cove, Mother Ivey’s Bay, Trevone, Harlyn Bay, Booby’s Bay, Constantine & Treyarnon.
Rock is a 10-minute ferry ride from Padstow across the Camel Estuary & the thriving market town of Wadebridge is 3 miles distant or a level cycle ride along the Camel Trail. The Camel Trail is an old railway line which now serves as an 18 mile flat cycle & nature trail with estuary, woodland & moorland sections. There are cycle hire centres in both Padstow & Wadebridge.
There are some fabulous surfing beaches nearby such as Polzeath & Watergate Bay, both great for beginners or the more challenging Constantine & Newquay beaches.
The amazing Eden Project is approx 25-30 mins away as are the beautiful Lost Gardens of Heligan.
Padstow / Camel Estuary area
L'Ancresse Barn is on the edge of a very small hamlet above the Camel Estuary with direct & uninterrupted views across the water to Padstow & the sea. Padstow is just a short cycle ride along the Camel Trail & remains a delight, with it's quaint harbour and narrow streets full of colourful buildings and cottages. Padstow also offers some of the finest restaurants in Cornwall and of course, is the home of the famous Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant.
Two of the finest links golf courses in England are close by - St Enedoc & Trevose whilst Parranporth & Newquay, both very challenging courses, are within 15 miles.
For lovers of natural history, some of the best migration watch-points are close by such as Trevose Head & the Camel Estuary itself. The estuary is a regular haunt of both seals & dolphins. The occasional basking shark is also seen from the cliffs.
North Cornwall has lots to do at any time of year. With good summer weather there is a choice of beautiful, safe beaches ( seven bays for seven days as they say locally ) & if the weather takes a turn for the worse, walking on the cliffs, cycling the Camel Trail or visiting some of the amazing attractions in the area is always an option. The benefit of poor weather of course is the waves get bigger!
In the winter time seeing massive storm waves on the rugged coastline is a must. Also, there is nothing better than sitting on the sofa, log fire burning, looking out at the view & sipping a glass of something…
How to get there
L'Ancresse Barn is only 8 miles from the A30 at Bodmin & 2 miles from the A39. Driving to Cornwall from the Home Counties or the Midlands is now motorway & dual carriageway for 99% of the journey ( there is a single lane section on Bodmin Moor for approx 2 miles only ).
Newquay airport is only 20 minutes away with cheap flights from many UK airports. Bodmin Parkway railway station is also 20 minutes away.
