The West Country / Cornwall region

Cornwall is fabulous for food lovers. There are dozens of fantastic places to eat; Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant and St Petrocs Bistro, together with award winning No. 6 right here in Padstow, and Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall just down the coast at Watergate Bay are just a few of the closest.

For the energetic, the range of water sports on offer nearby is outstanding - try surfing at Harlyn beach just a couple of miles up the coast, sailing or waterskiing on the Camel Estuary or sea kayaking on the south coast.

If a game of golf is more your style, there are excellent links courses at Trevose and St Enodoc; both are just a short drive away.

Padstow area

Whenever you visit, you’ll find so much to do, you’ll wonder how you’ll fit it all in. Padstow itself is heaven for dining, shopping and simply soaking up the unique Cornish atmosphere. Still an active fishing port, Padstow’s harbour is a hive of activity as the fishing boats come and go, supplying the restaurants with the freshest Cornish seafood. Also on the doorstep is the National Lobster hatchery, Prideaux Place, an historic Elizabethan house set within its own deer park, and the Camel Trail, which offers great cycling along the Camel Estuary to the pretty market town of Wadebridge.

Within easy reach, you’ll find world-class attractions such as the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan on the south Cornish coast, the Tate Gallery at St Ives and the National Maritime Museum at Falmouth; all are an easy drive away and offer fun days out.
