About the home

This large family home is 5 minutes walk from the stunning sandy beach where you can surf, sail or build sandcastles. On a private, elevated site, the property and its grounds afford magnificent sweeping sea views and are fully enclosed, gated and secure. The 1.2 acre garden is well-stocked and totally private with lovely wooden furniture, a BBQ, large trampoline, football posts, small orchard with a rope swing and rope ladder, and many other delightful features.

Furnished to an incredibly high standard, this 5 bedroom coastal home provides you with the perfect base to explore the spectacular North Cornish beaches, relax and unwind in the space, comfort and privacy of the house and garden itself and enjoy breathtaking sunsets. Amenities are plentiful including a plethora of restaurants, golf at Trevose (1 mile away), a cycle along the Camel Trail, scenic coastal cliff strolls, a visit to picturesque Padstow fishing village, a ferry ride to Rock or numerous visits to the huge number of tourist attractions for adults and children alike that North Cornwall offers.

The house sleeps 11 (excluding cots) in five bedrooms. Three bedrooms have super-king size beds (one of which can be set up as two singles) and comfortable reading areas with sea-views, one is a king-size room, and one a children’s room with bunk beds and a single bed. There are 5 bathrooms in all including 3 en suite, and there is a fabulous wet room where you can hose down and shower after a day at the beach! Tregea boasts a large open-plan living/dining area and a conservatory with spectacular sea views. There is a triple garage, a surf store and ample parking for four or five cars.

The Padstow / Harlyn Bay area

Tregea is in the village of Harlyn Bay, with St. Merryn a stone's throw away. The area surrounding it, only a couple of miles from the historic fishing port of Padstow, has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Five minutes walk from the house is Harlyn Bay beach. The bay is excellent for surfing, swimming and sunbathing, rock-pooling and sand-castle building. There are some fine walks along the headlands in either direction. The beach is lifeguarded throughout the Summer with a fully stocked surf shop for all your needs. There is great parking. The Harlyn Surf School is one of the best established in North Cornwall and close by, in Watergate Bay, there is the Extreme Academy which caters for kite-surfers and other extreme sport enthusiasts!

The village of St Merryn, a mere five minute walk from the house, welcomes you with the announcement "7 Bays for 7 Days". The crossroads at St Merryn is pretty much central to all the bays and amenities of the area and has shops, post office, a choice of restaurants (link to my restaurants page) and delis, a pub, takeaways (award winning fish and chips at Friar Tucks) and a garage.

Newquay Airport is a ten minute drive away from the house.

For the more active and adventurous, Harlyn and the surrounding area offers a wide range of activities including walking and cycling, the world famous Camel Trail, South West Coastal Footpath, water sports including fishing, surfing, waterskiing and sailing, and unrivalled golf on the seaside links of Trevose Golf and Country club, St Enodoc and Merlin Golf Club. Those of you who like to go-kart or shoot clay pigeons are catered for too. You can sea-fish, hire kayaks, go laser shooting or go paintballing. Click here for lots of ideas!

The Camel Trail which can be walked or cycled, follows the line of a disused railway and runs along the beautiful Camel estuary, from Padstow the 6 miles to Wadebridge, and on, for the more adventurous, another 8 miles to Bodmin. Cycle hire is available.

Further afield, there is a massive choice of attractions from the awesome Eden project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan to the natural beauty of Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor, Creally Adventure Park, go-karting, Tintagel Castle, the aquarium at Newquay, Tresallyn Riding Stables - whatever your fancy, you can find it.

Quite simply, there is something for everyone!

It was so relaxing and restful and the kids had such fun playing with all the toys and being so close to the beach – beaches!! was perfect! and also thank you for having everything so organized- really a special place!

We had a super week at Tregea thank you . We were blessed with pretty good weather and the only day we had a bit of drizzle we went into Padstow for Stein's fish and chips and a trip to the sweet shop for the kids! The house suited us very well and the children loved the garden. We visited Custard and Watergate beach Hut - both good recommendations thank you.

Just wanted to drop you a line to say that we loved staying at Tregea and thank you for the wine and scrumptious victoria sponge cake. As you know the weather was unfortunately really terrible but thanks to your gorgeous home it made it far more bearable than it might have been! The information box was great and we managed to keep ourselves busy despite the rain. Even did the Camel Trail to Wadebridge - going there in the rain, but coming back the sun actually shone & we had a lovely browse in the shops in Padstow (well I did anyway!).
