The West Country region
Cornwall holds a special place in the hearts of many people and it's not hard to see why with secret coves, magnificent beaches, postcard villages, celebrity chefs and some of the best weather the UK has to offer. Cornwall is easily accessible by rail, road and air.
PADSTOW/PORTHCOTHAN bAY area
The Atlantic and North Cornwall Coastal Path are a gentle 5 minute walk away. That is where you will find Golden Burn cove offering a sandy beach and quiet sunbathing. Just around the headland there is the magnificent surfing beach of Porthcothan Bay with lifeguards, surf lessons and hot pasties throughout the season.
Just 6 miles north is the picture perfect resort of Padstow (Rick Stein Seafood restaurant and much more!) with a myriad of galleries, shops and cafes. Rick Stein's 'new' Cornish Arms pub and other great eating places are closer to hand in St Merryn with petrol station, bakery and convenience stores. The renowned Watergate Bay is just 2 miles south with more quality dining places including Jamie Oliver's "Fifteen". If you want nightlife and world class surfing then Newquay is only 15 minutes to the south (near enough if you want it and far enough if you don't).
