The West Country / Cornwall region
However you want to spend your leisure time while on holiday in Cornwall, the county pretty much has it covered (except maybe for skiing!). We have tourist attractions aplenty to suit all age groups from families to grandparents, and of every sort from stately homes and gardens to full throttle fun parks.

The activities you can do in Cornwall can be as genteel as walking or bird watching to the extremes of kite surfing and coasteering. There is every type of event from the week long annual Boardmasters Surf Festival in Newquay to the latest rehang at the Tate St Ives, or a community event where you're welcome to join in, there should be no shortage of fun things to do while you're in Cornwall. In addition, from the river Camel north to Bude and on to Morwenstow and the highest cliffs in the West Country, it is a mixture of great cliffs and beaches. Walking (coast path) and bird-friendly cliffs (usually no road near): peregrines possible. Great sand/surf beaches at Polzeath, Trebarwith, Widemouth Bay, Bude and Sandy Mouth; sandy coves at Port Gaverne, Bossiney, Crackington Haven, Duckpool, and others less accessible; Rock, also sandy, is the place for watersports, including sailing on the Camel estuary; very fine golf course (St Enodoc); mini-fjords at Port Quin and Boscastle. Port Isaac is very pretty round its cliff-enclosed harbour. The well-worth-riding Camel Trail cycleway (bikes for hire) follows the river Camel from Bodmin Moor to Padstow. Pencarrow is a beautiful house with wonderful garden. Tintagel has a ruined castle (King Arthur's?) on a wild headland. St Juliot church was restored by Thomas Hardy and 'a pair of blue eyes' nearly fell down a Crackington cliff. Bodmin Moor, its highest hills quite mountainous, is only a little way inland and Blisland, on its northern edge, is one of Cornwall's prettiest villages: makes a change from sea: so does lovely Lanhydrock. Not far to Eden Project, St Austell.

The Padstow / St Merryn area

The village os St Merryn has pub, good restaurants, small shops), it is 1½ miles from the country/golf club. Harlyn Bay (sandy beach), 2 miles, and at least six other very good beaches within 3 miles; beautiful cliff scenery/walking (Bedruthan Steps, Trevose Head). Padstow, 3 miles. Newquay airport, 10 miles.

St Merryn village motto of ‘Seven Bays for Seven Days’ comes from the seven beaches within the parishes of Trevone Bay, Harlyn Bay, Mother Iveys Bay, Boobies Bay, Constantine Bay, Treyarnon Bay and Porthcothan Bay all of which offer something a little different from safe family bathing to great surf for learners or the more experienced ones.
is always somtheing happening in St Merryn and during the main season events such as the St Merryn Carnival, the Great Atlantic Raft Race, the St Merryn Vintage Steam Rally, church fetes, community markets, fun days and local music events will keep you busy during your time away from the beach. St Merryn is also lucky to have a UK Top 100 Golf Course (Trevose) within the parish which welcomes visitors all year long.

Whether you are looking for stunning costal walks, wild winter scenery, beautiful sandy beaches, a base to explore the rest of Cornwall or just somewhere to relax and enjoy the great local restaurants, bars and hospitality, St Merryn has it all!

“Fab location - close to beach, coastal walks, and shopping/restaurants, and fab accommodation; the perfect combination!” We were greeted and given a nice warm welcome by the owner. “Excellent accommodation in convenient location” The accomodation was excellent and the reception very welcoming.
