About this location
The Burgundy region
At the bottom of the Burgandy valley the name Charolles evokes images of creamy white cows and tasty steak in pepper sauce. This pretty little town set on the rivers Arconce and Semence, has 32 bridges and footways, which have earned it the name 'The Venice of the Charollais'. The area boasts many attractions including the towns of Marcigny, Paray-Le-Monial and Chateauneuf (a village of antique shops), the prestigious castles at Digoine, Pierreclos, Cormatin, St Point and La Palisse. To the west are the vineyards including Macon and Beaune, and the magnificent abbey at Cluny.
La Clayette has a famous Chateau and a famous chocolatier M.Bernard Dufoux. There is also a good public swimming pool and a crazy golf course. A farmers market alternates between towns visiting both Charolles and La Clayette weekday mornings.
In Chateauneuf near Roane there are a lot of antique shops which are very interesting for a wander around.
For picnics visit the viaduct at Musey and to entertain the kids the Acrobath at Bergesserin which has tree climbing and zip wires for all ages.
There are many wineries, too many to mention, and a selection of horse riding, golfing and kayaking facilities within a short drive.

"Wonderful location and a charming house"
We stayed at this beautiful house with our kids , our friends and their kids.. The house looks like it I was recently renovated from the inside.'so it looks like a old farm house from the outside and has modern facilities inside..very well done.. The location is most charming with beautiful views.. The house accommodated all of us with kids and all of were very comfortable. The owner had provided all the local attractions information, guides. The local people are the best people we came across. Since we did not speak common language, they went out of their way to help us. We would definitely go back and stay longer. Thanks Michael!

"Classic French house in gorgeous countryside"
This was our first stop after getting off a long plane journey to Paris airport. The house is charming, set in a nice garden and plenty of parking convienient for unloading bags and shopping. It is decorated to a high standard and well equipped with everything you would need for a comfortable stay and more. We immediately felt at home.
The local shop in the nearby village has all the essentials and became part of our morning routine going to the shop to get fresh bread. Our meals were either had in the in kitchen or in the spacious dining room next to the kitchen.
The house is surrounded by the most beautiful countryside with classic French villages and towns nearby where you can spend the days soaking up the culture of this region. There are plenty of shops and supermarkets a short drive away. Whilst we were there we had the honour of being visited by the local Charolle cows in the adjacent fields!
Most evenings we relaxed with a book and a bottle of wine in the garden or the by the wood burning fire in the living room.
We would definitely recommend a stay in this well situated house in a lovely part of France.
