Home description

The house is a 3 bedroomed semi detached property situated on a beautiful stretch
of coast between the towns of Gümülder and Özdere, south of Izmir and
north of Küsadasi. Opposite the Greek Island of Samos. It is very close to the sea, beach, mountains and orange groves.

The house can sleep up to 8 people and comprises of kitchen, lounge, veranda, 3 double bedrooms, the main bedroom with its own veranda, 2 bathrooms, roof patio, cellar and delightful gardens. From the roof you can observe spectacular 340 degree views. The house comes with all mod cons such as fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, gas cooker and satellite TV. There is a garden patio with barbeque.

The house is on a controlled site which has a security guard at the entrance. There are 2 large swimming pools, one just behind the house and the other at the top of the site which are in operation from approximately the middle of June to the middle of September. There is also a ‘chic chic’ tractor which runs every 2 hours and takes and brings you back from the beach, local village and local supermarket. This also runs during peak holiday times of approxmatley the middle of June to the middle of September. These operating times can be changed shortened or extended at the discretion of the site managers and are beyond the control of the house owner.

The Aegean Coast region

The coast line from Gumuldur to Ozdere curves gently around a romantic bay in the Aegean sea. The deep shale beaches slope down to the crystal blue sea. The Greek island of Samos is directly opposite. The large orange and lemon plantations boarder the beach area and the hinterland with forest and rough nature characterize these beautiful holiday resorts. The area has a good climate with temperatures reaching up to 40 degrees in August.

Ozdere / Yakamoz Sitesi area

Gumuldur is a summer town by the south west coast about 45 minutes from Izmir Adnan Menderes International airport. It is famous for its crystal clear water and natural beauty. It’s ideally situated in the heart of history being close to Ephesus, Teos Antic City and Lebedos. In Gumuldur you will be a witness to the sun and the sea. This peaceful holiday town is famous for its orchards. Here you have the chance to pick your own oranges or lemons yourself. You will soak up the sun, sea and the history at the same time. If you want a change from sunbathing there is mountain trekking were you can observe spectacular views of the Aegean Sea. You can rent a motorbike or car, forget the city life and get some fresh in your lungs. Gumuldur has excellent tourist facilities, beautiful beaches, restaurants and places to see. The winding panoramic coastal road leads you to Ozdere.

Ozdere is further down the road eastwards in the Kusadasi direction. It is a bustling touristy town with a lovely sandy beach and bathing bay. There is everything you need such as post office, supermarkets, open bazaar, private and state owned hospitals, as well as many restaurants, bars and shops. Just outside the town there is a café upon the hill that you can sit and have a drink and look down over the curvaceous bay and watch the moonlight shine over the water. Further down the road there is a municipal fish restaurant that serves locally caught fish deliciously cooked.

How to get there

Booking a Flight

Charter Flights: The flight time to Izmir airport from the UK is on average 4 hours. The cheapest flight option from the UK to Izmir, Adnan Menderes is by charter flight which leave the UK every Thursday (May - October) from the following UK regional airports: Gatwick, Stanstead, Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle. Also, when booking your flight, you may need to quote the airport code ADB, as some companies do not automatically recognise Izmir airport on their systems, as the airport code for this airport has changed recently.

Flight prices vary depending on the time of travel, and can range from as little as £89 to well over £200. The most expensive times to travel are dates falling on and around the school holiday periods, or UK Bank Holiday dates.

Scheduled Flights: British Airways fly direct to Izmir airport from London Gatwick Airport, 3 times a week and throughout the year. Currently their fares are competitively priced with fares starting from as little as £100 when booked well in advance.

Cyprus Turkish Airlines operate a direct flight to Izmir Airport, leaving Heathrow airport on Mondays and Saturdays, and Stansted airport on Fridays. Prices tend to be a little more expensive ranging from £230 to £300 and over, however child fares are available.

It is advisable to book scheduled flights well in advance as this allows you to obtain better value fares unlike, the charter flight operators, who reduce their flight prices extremely close to the departure date. You can also fly to Izmir daily, with Turkish Airlines or Lufthansa which involves 2 flights. E.g. Heathrow to Istanbul, Istanbul to Izmir, Heathrow to Munich, Munich to Izmir, Manchester to Istanbul, Istanbul to Izmir.

Visas

All British visitors to Turkey are required to pay £10 sterling per person for a visa, on entry in to the country. You will require one £10 note per person in your party, including children. They do not accept £20 or £50 pound notes. Scottish Pounds are not accepted. Non British Citizen passport holders should check visa requirements with the Turkish Consulate before booking. The visa is a multiple entry visa valid for three months.
