North Star is a beautiful single storey 4 bedroom,3 bathroom villa designed and built to a high standard specifically for the present owners. It is set in nearly 1 acre of garden in a very peaceful and secluded location above the village of Ozankoy with lovely sea and mountain views and olive groves to the front and rear of the house. The garden being a former olive grove itself, benefits from having 22 olive trees, which enhances the tranquil feeling of peace and seclusion.
The spacious accommodation is immaculately maintained by our team who care for the villa and it is well equipped with all you will need for an enjoyable holiday. All bedrooms are air conditioned. and there are several fans available around the house. For the cooler winter months the villa benefits from full central heating and double glazing and the living room has a large open fire with logs available for you to use. So whatever time of year you wish to visit this lovely part of Cyprus you will find this a first class villa for comfort and an ideal location from which to explore the many beaches and beautiful countryside as well being spoilt for choice of excellent restaurants in and around the Kyrenia/Bellapais area.
Ozankoy village is a few minutes walk away where you will find several good restaurants, a couple of small grocery shops and a good butcher. A good supermarket is a short drive away as is Kyrenia with its famous old harbour area.

The Kyrenia District
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Besparmak (Five Finger) mountains, Kyrenia (Girne) is regarded as one of the Mediterranean's most picturesque towns and is now North Cyprus' most popular resort. In the heart of Kyrenia is the enchanting old Venetian harbour where by day you can hire boats for fishing or for a trip along the coast where they usually stop at one of the many beaches for a lunch and a swim. The harbour is lined by numerous restaurants, what better place to relax with a cool drink. Nearby is the impressive seventh century Kyrenia Castle in which is held the oldest shipwreck found in the world (c.300BC). The main tourist "best buys" in the town's shops are considered to be gold jewellery, leather goods and Turkish carpets and don't forget the Turkish Delight!!.
Night life is predominately about al fresco dining in the numerous restaurants followed by a stroll and perhaps a coffee on the harbour. However for those wanting a bit more excitement there are casinos and small night clubs /discos to while away the night.
In the foothills of the mountains are plenty of walking trails - ideal for the more active or those interested in bird watching.
For culture and history lovers there are the old crusader castles of St. Hilarion( rumoured to have been the inspiration for Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty castle) and Buffavento castle above Kyrenia and are worth a visit as is Kantara castle further to the east where it was built to protect the Karpaz peninsular. Above Ozankoy and walkable from the villa is Bellapais. It was in the peaceful setting of the beautiful twelfth century Bellapais Abbey where Lawrence Durrell wrote his "Bitter Lemons" which is set in 1950's Cyprus.
For those interested in historical sites a visit to Famagusta and the Roman ruins of Salamis would be worthwhile, perhaps as a prelude to exploring the Karpaz peninsular where life carries on much as it did a century ago.Wild donkeys stil roam the area and you will find lovely uncrowded sandy beaches all along the coast from Famagusta to the tip of the Karpaz peninsular..
To the west of the island can be found the main fruit growing region with its many citrus groves. Again this part of the island is renowned for its unspoiled beauty and tranquil environment.
With its beautiful scenery, mountain walks, tranquil waters with rocky coves and sandy beaches not to mention the many historical sites, the proliferation of welcoming restaurants and friendly Cypriot people are enough to make this area of North Cyprus a place for a truly memorable holiday.
Ozankoy area
Ozankoy is a sleepy village nestling under the Besparmak mountains and a walk away from Bellapais and its beautiful Abbey - try Kybele restaurant in its grounds and take in the stunning views from its balconies. Good quality classical concerts are also performed within Bellapais Abbey walls.
Within the village of Ozankoy are several small grocery shops (larger supermarkets just a few minutes drive away) and a butchers. There are several good restaurants in the village and only a short walk from the villa. The selection of restaurants is almost limitless once you go further afield in the car.
There are several small "covey" beaches within 1.5 to 2. kms of the villa but within 15 mins drive can be found Acapulco beach complex with its very large pool and water slides and other entertainments available in addition to the sandy beach (there is an entrance charge to cover all facilities). A little further is Lara beach (sometimes known as Pepsi beach because of the direction sign) and a little further again Alagadi beach also known as Turtle beach because of the ongoing work on site to protect the Turtles and their nesting sites. It is possible to join and help the researchers during the summer months (their web site: www.seaturtle.org/mtrg ).
A new international golf course, called Korineum Golf Club (www.korineumgolf.com), has been built at Essenteppe which is about a 20 mins drive from the villa. Golfers would appreciate the high standards on offer but even those who don't would enjoy a drink and the views available from the club house.
There is a very good riding club in the next village of Catalkoy which caters for novices and experienced riders.( www.catalkoyridingclub.com )
How to get there
The main airport in North Cyprus is Ercan airport and is about 35minutes from the villa. For those wishing to avoid the short stop in Turkey, frequent flights are available to Larnaca Airport in the south from numerous airlines including the "low cost" providers as well as British Airways or Cyprus Airways. The journey time from Larnaca to the villa is circa 1hr 15mins. We can arrange transfers from either Ercan or Larnaca airports and can also arrange car hire which we consider essential to make the most of this lovely corner of Cyprus. The Villa owners are always happy to discuss your individual requirements and recommend the best flight arrangements for you.

The large kitchen / dining room is fully fitted and well equipped with granite worktops, electric cooker, gas hob, extractor fan, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and much more. It has lovely views down to the coast and patio doors lead to the kitchen balcony - ideal for al fresco breakfasts in the warm morning sun.
Utility room with washing machine, ironing board and iron. Also a cool box if you want to take out a picnic.
The spacious and comfortable living room has a radio/CD player, satellite TV and a DVD player. The coffee table conceals chess and backgammon boards, and other games e.g.cards etc. can be found in the drawers. The bookcase holds a good selection of reading material and some guide books of the island plus some maps to help you get around. The owners have also prepared a helpful information folder. Patio doors lead to the main courtyard area and pool.
All floor areas in the villa are travertine marble which is ideal for the summer climate in Cyprus.
Linen and bathroom towels are provided. On arrival you will receive a Welcome Pack which subject to availability will include: coffee, tea, milk (fresh if available), butter jam, orange juice, sugar, eggs biscuits,bread, fruit, wine, water and the local Cyprus Today newspaper.
Further details outdoors: The villa is built around a large patio area which is ideal for al fresco dining. Viewed from this patio is the large private 12m x 6m overflow swimming pool and the poolside sun terrace area. There is also a roof top terrace over the traditional stone built garage where you can enjoy panoramic views. The garden offers a variety of areas where you can relax, whether you want to choose a sunny or .shady area there is somewhere for you.
The pool area has plenty of sunbeds and parasols and the pool gazebo offers additional shade when the sun is at its peak. In the garage will be found lilo's and other items to have fun in the pool. Adjacent to the pool is the poolside shower and a stone built BBQ.
Facilities for outside dining are offered in the main courtyard area, the kitchen balcony and under the pergola with a roof of bamboo giving dappled shade. There is plenty of outside lighting for night time.
There is ample parking for several cars
The garden, being large, offers a variety of places to relax depending upon whether you want sun or shade.

When booking North Star, the owners will offer advice on your flight arrangements and will also arrange car hire on your behalf. We believe that car hire is essential to make the most of your holiday. Transfers from either Ercan airport in the North or Larnaca airport in the South can be arranged for you if you wish.
The owners operate a strict no smoking policy inside the villa for the benefit of all guests.
Conditions
Bookings must be for a minimum of a week and the change over day is Saturday.
Upon booking, a deposit of 20% of the total rental charge is payable. The balance becomes due 8 weeks prior to the start of your holiday.
A refundable "breakage/damage bond" of £150 per booking is payable with the balance of the rental payment. Assuming no breakages or damage the bond monies will be returned to you within one week following the end of your holiday, less any excess electricity charge that may be applied (see below). In the event of cancellation, it will returned in full.
Electricity: An allowance of 350 units per week is included within the rental price which should be plentiful for normal consumption. However, during periods of heavy usage, for example during heatwave conditions during the peak summer months when the air conditioning units might be operated for abnormally long periods, then any excess units will be charged at cost and deducted from the breakage bond monies.
Cancellation Charges: more than 8 weeks - the deposit between 55 and 29 days- 60% of total cost up to 28 days before start of holiday - 100% 0f total cost. It is always advisable to take out suitable insurance against cancellation charges, loss of property or illnes/accident.
