The property is on a quiet road, tucked away from any noise by a mature landscaped garden. This self-catering Oxford apartment is a 5-minute walk from the unique and vibrant enclave of Jericho, which has a wide variety of shops, restaurants and an independent cinema. Getting away into the lush Oxfordshire countryside is easy from this property. Within walking distance you can reach Port Meadow and take a walk along the Thames. Or 10 minutes away is the beautiful University Parks where you can walk, picnic, punt on the river and watch cricket in the summer. An excellent choice for anyone looking for a holiday cottage in Oxford.
The bus journey to the city centre from this Oxford apartment takes 5 minutes and the service is frequent. Alternatively the walk to the city centre takes 15 minutes and is very pleasant: straight down the Woodstock Road/St Giles, taking you past North Oxford's distinctive Victorian Gothic architecture and university buildings.

"All our needs were graciously satisfied."
The location of this apartment was ideal. It was close enough to all attractions, an easy drive to the Cotswold's without going through the center of Oxford, and the bus into the center was on the corner, came often, and was a 5 minute ride into the center. The apartment was quiet.
There were some problems with the apartment. The mattress was very soft. The dishwasher required the water to run in the sink for the full cycle and the clothes did not come out of the washer/dryer dry. This was dealt with by using the drying rack provided and it was a minor inconvenience. We washed the dishes by hand and used the dishwasher as a drying rack. I recommend not paying for extra cleaning since towels and sheets are changed weekly without cost and cleaning supplies and a vacuum are provided.
In addition to the convenience to Oxford center, walking into Jericho, a neighborhood that is a 5 minute walk from the apartment was excellent. In Jericho there were many good restaurants and some small groceries.
The apartment comes with a garage (important since there is virtually no parking in Oxford). the problem is that the garage was so small that our rental Audi was too big for the garage. If you come by car, be sure that your car is as small as possible. For Oxford, a car is not necessary. But if you plan side trips, then you might want one, or you can rent as needed.
One of the best things about this rental was Astrid, the owner of the apartment. There was nothing that we asked that she did not quickly provide graciously. She was very easy to get along with and very responsive to our needs. Despite some of the negatives, I would strongly recommend this rental since the negatives can be overcome and the positives were very positive. The only thing I would recommend to improve this experience would be a good mattress.

"Perfect Family Accomodation for Academic Stay"
We stayed at Butler Close for a number of weeks over December-January 2012 while I was a visiting fellow at Oxford (Two adults, two children 14yrs and 10yrs). The accomodation was central and a nice walk to a local corner store and into the centre of town. It is right on the bus route as well. It was very comfortable and warm. The owner was excellent and very helpful in ensuring the accomodation was ready and perfect for us. We were met at the property and given the key, and had the appliances explained. I highly recommend using this unit. We will stay here if we come back to Oxford.
