The Turkish Aegean Coast region
The Ovacik/Hisaronu area has blue skies and sunshine from spring through to autumn. Mid summer can be very hot, but spring and autumn visitors will also enjoy plenty of warmth and sunshine with temperatures much hotter than in the UK. You can enjoy the beaches in spring and well into the autumn although the evenings will be slightly cooler. The months of April/May and September/October are ideal for walkers and cyclists, and there are many sunny days even in the middle of winter.
This area is special because it is unspoiled and varied, with beautiful tree covered mountains, glorious beaches and crystal clear turquoise waters. Add together the warmth of the welcome from the local Turkish people, the sunshine, the spectacular scenery and the delicious excellent value local cuisine, and you have the perfect ingredients for a wonderful holiday.
It takes around 10 minutes to walk from Orka Gardens to the centre of Ovacik. There you will find local shops where you can buy food, water and everyday essentials, and several restaurants serving good food at very reasonable prices. The Orka Club Hotel is also located here. Continue walking for about a further 10 minutes and you will be in Hisaronu. Here you will find numerous shops, restaurants, bars and clubs (more commercialised than Ovacik) and a local market on Mondays.
From the main road in Ovacik, the local buses (dolmus) run every few minutes during the day. These are a very inexpensive and convenient way to get around and will take you to Hisaronu in a couple of minutes, Olu Deniz in about 10 minutes and Fethiye in about 15 minutes.
A visit to the famous Blue Lagoon at Olu Deniz with its beautiful surroundings, sandy beach and calm clear water is a must. After a day on the beach, sit and enjoy a drink on the seafront and watch the paragliders come in to land. Daily boat trips leave from the beach.
Fethiye is a larger town where you can buy virtually anything. There is a very large weekly market every Tuesday selling cheap, great quality fresh local produce, clothes, leather goods and fresh Turkish delight and also a daily fish market. There are numerous bars and restaurants to cater for all tastes and a very pretty harbour area that has recently been landscaped with garden and paved areas, play areas for children, fountains and topiary, with lovely views out over the bay. Many boat trips leave from Fethiye or you can take the ferry over to the island of Rhodes. You can also travel further afield by dolmus from here.
The “ghost town” of Kayakoy is a fascinating former Greek village abandoned after a population exchange agreement was signed by the Turkish and Greek governments many years ago. It can easily be reached by dolmus in about 15 minutes.
There is a small Aquapark a few minutes away by dolmus.
Other Things to do / Places of interest
Paragliding from the Babadag Mountains
Jeep and quad bike safari
Take a boat trip from Olu Deniz or Fethiye.
Visit Saklikent Gorge (canyon 300 meters deep and 18 km long, one of the deepest in the world, can be reached by dolmus from Fethiye or on an organised tour).
Have a day out in Dalyan (Iztuzu beach, loggerhead sea turtles, mud baths, Lycian tombs, ancient ruins).
Whether you want an active holiday or just to chill out and relax, there really is something for everyone.

"An excellent well appointed apartment in scenic location."
We stayed with two friends and found the apartment had plenty of room and everything you need. There was a large pool which was immaculately clean and there were plenty of sun beds. It was really peaceful and the setting is great with mountain views from one aspect and views of the sun set from the other. Getting about is easy, there is a walk down to the village where you can get a dolmus to the nearby resorts.. or you can use the Orca hotel shuttle bus ..if you have a drink in their bar..no hardship! Also you can just press a button on the telegraph pole opposite the apartment complex and a cheap taxi will be with you in a few minutes. There is plenty of choice of good quality eateries in the village which are good value and if you stray off the beaten track you can get a real deal.Meal for 4 with drinks for the equivalent of £30.We ate twice at the Suntrap in Hisoranu..its worth a visit bit more expensive but still good value

"Beautiful apartment, Great holiday."
We(two couples) visited A1 Orka Gardens july/august and had agreat holiday. We arrived late on saturday night and were dropped at the complex to be shown to the door and helped with our luggage by the friendly security man.(He made us a cup of turkish tea one night when we got back after a late night out).Everything about the apartment was first class,it was spotless and very well equipped. The pool was a lot bigger than we expected and there was ample sunbeds, only problem was lack of wifi but hopefully that will be sorted soon. We went on the 12 island boat trip which was a great day out as was the jeep safari (our driver took his girlfriend with him and climbed onto the bonnet at the end of the day and proposed, she said yes which was fun to see) We also spent a day at Orka Sunlife (a 5star all inc resort just down the road) which because we were in an orka group complex only cost £25 each for the day from 9.30 till midnight, it was a great da There are many great bars/restaurants in the area that offer good quality food at good prices, we really liked angora at the bottom of the road. All in all we all had a great holiday and loved the apartment and really h0pe to return in the not too distant future. Stuart, lisa, kev and tanya.
Thank you for reviewing your stay in A1 and your lovely comments. We're so glad you had a great time and look forward to seeing you again.

"amazing stay in a beautiful apartment"
We stayed at A1 Orka villa in June and have to say we had a great time. The resort is quiet and peaceful with plenty of sunbeds and not too crowded. The apartment was all we could wish for it was kept to a high standard, clean with everthing you may need including airconditioning that works ! The owners organised all of our transfers via the hotel and the pick ups went smoothly allowing us to relax. The only down side was there was lots of wasps and they is still no wifi on the complex but i would definately return again
Thank you for your nice comments. We are sorry you were troubled by wasps and feel you were rather unlucky as all our visits at various times of the year have been wasp free! Orka informed us they are unable to provide the complex with wifi due to a new government ruling so we are looking at options for private internet connection. Free wifi is available 24/7 at the Orka Hotel in the meantime. We are glad that you enjoyed your holiday and hope to welcome you back in the future.
