The Turkish Aegean Coast region
The region is rich in culture. There is the possibility of visiting the local market in Fethiye which is a real experience and a real taste of today's culture in Turkey. Fethiye is still a city of labor with an active fishing port. You can actually see the fishers repairing their nets. The people are very hospitable and friendly. They might even invite you for a drink and something to eat at their place. The region is also one of the largest vegetable producing areas of Turkey, so there are always fresh vegetables.
The population is still skilled in crafts such as carpet weaving, glass blowing and pottery. Fethiye is also a place full of history. It is a place rich in ancient buildings dating from the time it was occupied by the old Greek kings. You can still visit the magnificent tomb of Amintas and the ghost town of Kaya Village to explorer the ruins of this Greek settlement. You can also visit one of the oldest of the 72 Lycean settlements, built in the unspoilt Turkish countryside. Here you can climb the ruins and enjoy breathtaking views from the summit. There are also Rock tombs, Agora, Roman baths and theater.
Fethiye is surrounded by the Toros (Taurus) Mountains, many reaching as high as 1600 to 3000 meters. The slopes of the mountains and the plain are lined with pine, cedar, olive, laurel, myrtle, acacia, fig and citrus trees; more than 3000 endemic sorts among thousands of floral varieties. The frankincense tree (Liquidamber Orientalis), which is the source of myrrh, and widely used in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries, is counted as a rare species in the world. This tree is cultivated only around Fethiye and Köycegiz and in a small district of California. Abundant in flora and fauna, the ecological life of Fethiye is worth exploring by people who are lovers of nature.
Explore the Blue Lagoon of Ölüdeniz where the calm crystal water is ideal for swimming and other water sports. Ölüdeniz is located near the famous resort of Fethiye, and protected as one of the natural parks of Turkey. The Caretta Caretta is one of the most endangered turtles in the world. They lay their eggs on the beaches of Ölüdeniz and Calis.
Baba Dag (Father Mountain), the 2000 meter high and famous mountain of Fethiye is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. With its rich flora and fauna and 60 different types of orchids there is enough to see.
The Butterfly Valley is placed at the bottom of a deep Valley of one of the most beautiful bays around Fethiye. Starting at springtime for about 9 to 10 months more than 40 kinds of butterflies can be seen in the valley.
High in the mountains above Fethiye, rushing river torrents cut a narrow gorge through the mountains, creating Saklikent Gorge. A cool refuge on hot summer days, Saklikent Gorge is a favorite picnic spot with rustic restaurants serving delectable fresh trout.
Fethiye is famous for its para-gliding. For the cost of a good meal in London or Paris, can you fly down almost 2000 meters from the beautiful Baba Dag with an experienced fly instructor. Landing on the beach with a pub not even 100 meters away it is something you will never forget. Maybe you're afraid of heights, don't worry. There is enough water and space for extreme water sports like windsurfing and kite surfing. With always a fresh wind and generally a calm sea it is perfect for practicing and enjoying.
There is the possibility to rent a jet-ski or a personal watercraft (PWC) and of course a banana boat isn't missing. And if you don't like speed there is enough to do under water, snorkeling and scuba diving. Fethiye is blessed with crystal clear waters and an amazing scenery of cliffs, caverns, canyons and boulders, swim through, reefs with visibility of 30 to 40 meters and rich colorful marine life. At many of the dive sites rock formations give shelter to octopuses, moray eels, groupers and big shells. On the rocks scorpion fish, starfish and tube worms are easy to see while clams and shells lie along the sandy bottom.
Take a one day introductory course, or a week long course to improve your skills under water.
In the many tourist entertainment venues in the area you can be entertained by dancers, singers and acrobats during dinner. For the enthusiast there is the possibility of hookah smoking in a livable lounge café. As the evening progresses, you can enjoy around nightlife with cozy pubs and popular clubs open until late at night. There is always something to do!
The villas are near a hotel called Orka Club, which provides amusement activities for young children. The swimming-pool and slide of Orka Club is also available to everyone for free.

"Two weeks of joy and pleasure!"
The day we arrived the organization picked us up at the airport and brought us directly to a place where we received our keys. Our holiday started!! After discovering the beautiful villa, we spend the rest of the day at the villa, sunbathing and seeking refreshment in the pool. At night we went out for dinner at the hotel where we received our keys and figured out that all the facilities of the hotel are also available for the villa guests! The nighs program was a dance act and small disco afterwards. Next day, after the breakfast buffet, the kids really enjoyed the slides and the organized activities. On the third day we went to the beach. The Lagoon of Oludeniz is truly a wonder of nature. Cristal blue water and white beaches. After getting more accustomed to the Turkish way of living we decided to look for some adventure. I'm afraid of heights, but if I have to believe my son para-gliding from the Babadag (Father-Mountain) is one of the coolest things he has ever done. The Jeep-trip to the top of the Babadag was enough for me. I would also suggest to go to the waterpark (5 minutes by shuttlebus), especially with children its a great way to spend the day! The only disadvantage of our holiday was the expensive suncream, do not forget the cream because you will need plenty of it! I would definitely recommend Emerald Villas and I hope to revisit the beautiful area of Oludeniz again.
