This self-catering cottage is attached to “Les Pommerats” farmhouse set in the Morvan natural park area, famous for its green rolling hills and abundant bird and wildlife. On the fringe of the village of Ouroux en Morvan, you are a 10 minute walk to all basic services, including bakery, butcher, chemist, mini-market, Sunday market, wine cellar, tourist office and bicycle hire.

The cottage (60 sq. m) has been renovated in traditional Burgundy style with exposed oak beam ceilings throughout. It sleeps three to six; suits families. Downstairs comprises the master bedroom with view to garden; huge modern bathroom with shower over bath; living/dining area with open fire place, table seating six, and sofa bed. The kitchenette is equipped with double sink, full fridge/freezer, microwave, double electric hotplate, electric mini-oven, pressure cooker, kettle and coffee-maker. Upstairs there are two double beds, and a lounge area with TV, books, magazines and games. Parking space is available in one of the barns. There are a BBQ and outdoor table setting for your use in the garden.

The Burgundy / Nievre region

Ouroux is situated in the Morvan hills between the Lac de Pannecière and the Lac des Settons: ten or twenty minutes drive to swimming, boating and fishing. Forty to sixty minute drives take you to the historic cities of Autun, Beaune, Dijon; the finest Bourgogne wineries; Michelin 3 star restaurants; famous Gallic, Roman and Christian sites, including the 12th century Crusades town of Vezelay and Gallo-Roman capital Bibracte. The area is dotted with charming chateaux, many open to visitors, and unspoiled mediaeval villages. When you have had enough history and culture you could try horse-riding, white-water rafting or following the many walking trails through the woods.

Ouroux en Morvan area

Ouroux is a small village situated on top of a hill in one of the least populated, most wooded parts of France. The quiet country roads around here make it a favourite destination of keen cyclists. There are also many well-marked walking trails through the tranquil surrounding countryside, which during WWII was a centre of resistance. Trails of the maquis can be followed in the nearby woods, one of them leading to a cemetery dedicated to local resistance fighters and the British SAS who came to their assistance.

Price includes a welcome package of basics such as tea, coffee, homemade jam, fresh milk and bread. A final cleaning fee of €45 for each booking is additional.

Bed linen €5 per bed; towels €5 per person (includes bath towel, hand towel, face washer and towel for the lake).

One male adult and one female adult bikes available for hire at €10 per day.
