Home description

This log cabin is set on a small hill in tranquil unspoilt Alentejo. The log cabin is on a small farm which has
free rangeing pigs,chickens,guinea fowl and ducks. Free range orgainc eggs are offered for sale at a small cost. We grow a variety of vegetables and salad ingredients which you are free to use as you wish during your holiday with us. Down at the farmhouse we have a 13metre x 6metre swimming pool which you are also free to use as and when you wish.
The theme of this holiday is peacefull,tranquil and laid back go out and explore on foot or by car or just laze by the pool or on the verandah of your log cabin and marvel at the peace and tranquility and 360 degree view of unspoilt countryside set before your eyes. We are also close to several very large fishing lakes to.

The Southern Plains/Alentejo region

Very rural nice villages and towns.
Just a short distance to the west coast resorts which are unspoilt by mass tourism and are generally uncrowded.
Several large fishing lakes in the area, fishing permits can be obtained locally.

Ourique / Aldeia das Amoreiras area

Ourique is a small town which has shops,banks,pharmacies,cafes,bars,restaurants,hospital,doctors and vets.
There is a large supermarket as you enter the town.
Aldeia das Amoreiras is just a very small village with approximately 300 residents, most of them elderly as the younger people leave to find better work in the large cities or in tourism.
There are many festivals and bank holidays in Portugal so you are almost sure to find something going on in the locality during your stay.

How to get there

You will need a hire car from the airport, you can pre-book this when you book your flights. Holiday Autos are the best.
To fly to Portugal (Faro) there are Easyjet.com from east midlands, Bmibaby.com from east midlands
Thomsonfly from Doncaster and Coventry. Flymonarch from Birmingham. Jet2.com from Leeds/Bradford and Manchester

The log cabin has a generous lounge area with seating for 6 people. There is a groundfloor double bedroom at one end of the lounge whilst off the other end is the kitchen area which has fully fitted kitchen units a sink ,cooker,microwave,kettle,toaster and pots pans and cutlery. Through the backdoor of the kitchen and outside is a larger than average shower room, with a toilet and a large sink area. Back in the lounge of the log cabin is a small staircase which leads up to a small loft bedroom which has a double bed. There is under stairs storage. Outside and at the front of the log cabin is a verandah with table and chairs. Approximately ten yards to the left of the log cabin is a day cabin and a bbq area for your use. In the day cabin there are some children's toys also. Extra beds are available for larger family groups.

Further details outdoors:
This is a small working farm where we welcome some hands on help if you feel the urge. Such as collecting the eggs and feeding the animals.
We have a farm laborer who although he does not speak english, he is extremely friendly and helpful and communication is never a problem with him.
The farm laborer also enjoys fishing at one of the local lakes and he has his own boat, which if you were to offer to take him (he has no transport ) he would love to take you out fishing of an evening.
Although we are inland we are infact only 40kms from the beautiful west coast resort of Vila Nove de Milfontes which is a Portugese gem and not to be missed.

Further details

All bedding and shower towels are provided all you need to bring are your own pool/beach towels.
There is a shop in the village which provides basic staples, however should you require bread then it must be ordered in advance for the day that you arrive. There is a large supermarket just a short drive away. In the next village 6kms there are all facilities. Pharmacy, banking, post office, supermarket etc etc.

Conditions

A booking deposit of £100 is required to confirm your booking.
A security deposit of £100 is required and is refunded at the end of your holiday (subject to any breakages)
Smokers are welcome but must only smoke outside the log cabin please !!! This is a wooden house.
Pets are wlcome but must be well behaved as we have free ranging livestock.

The property's weekend rates apply to: Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights

NB: Prices may be subject to change at the advertiser's discretion.

Extra nights above the weekly rate will be charged at the weekly rate divided by seven.eg 150 divided by 7 =21.50. But shorter than a week will be charged at 25.

A £100 deposit is required to secure your booking followed by the balance to be paid 12 weeks before your holiday begins.

Well what can we say, it is every bit as peaceful as you said it would be. The pool is great, especailly after a day of sight seeing to just jump in and cool off and then just to sit and chat over a beer whist you bbq`d us some of your own produced free range organic pork and served it up with wine,salad and bread. It has been truly magical my friend, definitely not to be missed. We will be back,for sure. Ricky and Debbs. Doncaster.

We had the most peaceful and relaxing holiday ever. As you said your farm hand Milhio was excellent,he let us feed the pigs and hens and ducks. Your salad veg was fresher than fresh and the taste is so much better than at home. The local bars and restaurants in the village are great and the villagers are really really friendly and nice people.Yes we really had a great time. Berny and Greta. Sheffield.
