Set deep in the heart of the Spanish hinterland between Granada (1 hour's drive) and the Coast (1/2 hour's drive), Palacete de Cazulas dates back to 1492. The house has been elegantly and thoughtfully renovated, preserving its unique atmosphere and historical features, including some of the original furniture and decorations. The property comprises of the mansion, where most of the accommodations are located, a separate cottage with two bedrooms, spacious ornamental gardens, private chapel, pool, tennis court and outside summer bar/eating area, all surrounded by magnificent views of the hillsides and valley. There are twelve bedrooms in the main house, all individually decorated and furnished with antiques. Every bedroom, except for one on the third floor, has an en suite bathroom. Guest areas in the main building include a vaulted drawing room with original stone fireplace, an attractive wood panelled dining room, and a library and games room/museum. The ornamental Moorish-style gardens have been laboriously restored to their former glory. Ancient cypress hedges border an attractive swimming pool fed by a natural spring. Granada, the ski resort of Solynieve (Sierra Nevada), and the Alpujarra Mountains, are just a few of the numerous attractions that lie within a short drive of the property. Entrance to the property is electronically controlled, guaranteeing guests' privacy at all times. There is ample outdoor parking. A gardener tends to the grounds until noon, Monday through Friday.

The Andalucia region

If there is one region in Andalucia that truly captures that magic and romanticism of southern Spain, it is Granada. With the soaring Sierra Nevada mountains to the north and the and the Mediterranean Sea to the south, the area surrounding Granada offers visitors a unique historical and cultural view of Spain. The ancient city of Granada was once one of the world?s greatest cultural capitals and flourished under the 700 year Arab occupation of Spain. A treat for the senses, Granada city is home to a fascinating blend of Islamic and Christian architecture, narrow streets and intimate courtyards thick with the smell of orange blossom and jasmine. With a diverse student population and laid-back residents, it is famous throughout Spain for its vibrant nightlife and thriving restaurant scene.

The Albaic?n and world-famous Alhambra, widely considered to be the most beautiful palace in Spain are not to be missed. Beyond the city are ancient villages and a landscape so diverse that many locals boast that it?s the only place in the world where you go skiing in the morning and take a swim in the warm waters of the Mediterranean in the afternoon. The northern reaches of the region are part of the Alhama Natural Park, a favourite of hikers, climbers and nature lovers. To the south is the sun-drenched Costa Tropical, with its sandy beaches and intimate whitewashed villages. The Valle de Lecr?n, literally translating to ?The Valley of Happiness? is situated to the south of Granada city, and with it comes a pace of life and natural beauty that has not changed for centuries. Founded by Moorish explorers in the 7th century, the 17 villages scattered throughout the valley are rich in culture and tradition, whilst the gentle hills surrounding them are perfect for walking. Whether you are looking to see some of Spain?s most beautiful monuments and structures in Granada city, wander through the tight streets of an ancient village in the valley, or simply relax and soak up the sun on the beach, the beautiful region of Granada offers visitors a true taste of Andalucia.
