Home description
Set in a quiet, remote location, this 16th Century detached stone-built farmhouse is located on the owner’s 2,000-acre hill estate in the beautiful Tanat Valley within the village of Pennant Melangell. The property has been renovated to a very high standard and comes with a great number of original features such as exposed beams, wall timbers, slate flagstone and oak floors. The large inglenook fireplace is a charming character-feature of the property and hides a spiral staircase made of stone whilst wooden shutters give the windows a quaint, country feel.

The Powys / Brecon Beacons / Powys region
Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. Snowdonia National Park, situated in North Wales, boasts breathtaking mountain scenery, crystal clear lakes and cascading waterfalls. Climb Snowdon, which at 1085m is Wales’ highest mountain, or travel to the summit in style on the charming Mountain Railway. Alternatively, why not sample the beautiful green valley of Llangollen by steam train or from a leisurely horse-drawn canal boat.
In July, the annual Llangollen Eisteddfod transforms the town into a unique centre of international music and dance, attracting musicians and singers from across the globe. You could also explore the beautiful coastline, safe sandy beaches and watersports of the Lleyn Peninsula, as well as Colwyn Bay, historic Conwy, Victorian Llandudno or the Isle of Anglesey on the north coast. To the south, there’s the lovely Brecon Beacons National Park, a haven of rugged moorland, forests and mountains that’s just perfect for nature lovers and walkers.
Finally, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is renowned for its wildlife, stunning coastal scenery, superb beaches and as the home of Britain’s smallest city, the City of St David’s.
Oswestry / Pennant Melangell area
Set in the beautiful and peaceful Tanat Valley, Pennant Melangell is a beautiful little North-Wales village with a historic church dedicated to the 7th Century Saint, Melangell - from whom the town takes its name. With many lovely walks through this pretty, rural area, the charming, ancient village makes a wonderful base for ramblers.
Visitors can see Pistyll Rhaeadr, which is the highest waterfall in Wales and enjoy the trails from Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant and Llangynog as well as the RSPB nature reserve at Lake Vyrnwy. For those who have a more active holiday in mind, nearby Bala Lake offers excellent water sport facilities.

Guestbook for 1974
"The cottage was beautiful. Remote and quiet - just what you want at Christmas." -Mrs Davis, Wincanton, Somerset December 2008
"A fabulous cottage, restored to a very high standard. The isolated location in stunning surroundings was exactly what we were looking for. We will certainly be back. I wish we'd booked for longer......" -Mrs Barker, Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire June 2008
"Eco-friendly! All the electric was from a water turbine. The property was beautiful - lots of oak (walls and floors, even the toilet cisterns!) and ancient features (carved oak and stone lintels). Stunning location. We will be going again." -Mrs Kingstone, Brighouse, West Yorkshire March 2008
"The cottage was beautiful - just as described. The attention to detail in the cottage renovation was greatly appreciated and the location was also picture perfect. We will definitely be considering a return visit! " -Mrs Griffin, Haywards Heath, West Sussex December 2007
