Endslane Cottage is a well appointed, modern cottage for two, situated in the village of Trefonen, and just a short walk from the Offa's Dyke National Trail.

Pronouced 'Trev-on-nen', the small village is actually located on the English side of the Welsh border and set within beautiful countryside, just a few miles from Oswestry, Shropshire. Whilst Offa's Dyke is an obvious target for many visitors to Trefonen, there are many other visitor attractions and sites of interest within a 30 minute drive of the cottage including the World Heritage site of The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.

The village boasts an excellent pub, The Barley Mow, which is just a few minutes walk away and serves evening meals, fine ales and a warm welcome to boot.

The Accommodation

The owners have gone to great lengths to ensure the cottage is furnished to an excellent standard and to provide guests privacy during their stay. There's even a garage parking space if required.

The cottage accommodation is reached via a decorative iron, spiral staircase from the private patio. It's a quirky, yet ever so charming way to enter the property.

Inside, the open plan living accommodation includes a comfortable leather sofa and additional leather chair. A large, wall mounted flat screen TV with Freeview is provided too. A dining area adjoins the lounge with table and chairs for two.

The modern kitchen is an excellent size with plenty of worktop space for food preparation. The kitchen is thoroughly well equipped ensuring you have everything you need for a relaxing stay.

The bedroom leads off from the lounge and is tastefully furnished with fresh linen provided. There's plenty of wardrobe space. The double bed can actually be separated into singles if preferred. From the windows there are delightful views across neighbouring countryside and a paddock.

The ensuite shower room is most spacious indeed, with WC, sink basin and double shower.

About the Area

The cottage is located just a short walk from the national trail of Offa's Dyke and therefore provides a perfect base for walkers looking to add mileage towards completing this famous long distance path.

The local attractions should certainly not be overlooked though. There are a variety of historic and natural attractions worth of a visit, many within a half hour drive.

Pistyll Rhaeadr near Llanrhaeadr is the UK tallest single drop waterfall and one of the 7 natural wonders of Wales. A team room at it's base provides an exhilarating way to enjoy a cup of tea. From here, the wilderness of the Berwyn mountains can be explored.

Llangollen is just a short drive away, a small town set in stunning Welsh scenery. There's also the nearby Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, part of the Llangollen Canal, which crosses the River Dee at the knee trembling height of 126 feet. Traverse the aqueduct on foot or even hire a narrowboat for an unforgettable experience.

The market town of Oswestry with many independent stores, cafes and restaurants is just 3 miles up the road and the historic towns of Shrewsbury and Chester within easy reach.
