The Powys/Brecon Beacons region

Mid Wales is a magical place, with breathtaking mountains and unspoilt countryside and tranquil lakes. There is an abundance of walking, cycling and horseriding opportunities for the adventurer or rambler, and Mid Wales is steeped in history and charm and spectacular views for those who prefer a more relaxing holiday. Brecon is a highlight, a beautiful catherdral town just below the spectacular Brecon Beacons, Llandrindod Wells is a Victorian Spa town with beautiful public buildings, and of course Machynlleth - the ancient capital of Wales, a small market town with a population of around 2000. The town is famous for Welsh culture and politics as the site of Owain Glyndŵr's Welsh Parliament in 1404. Many other famous towns lie nearby with events such as the Bog Snorkelling championship!!

Lake Vyrnwy is the perfect setting for cyclists or ramblers, with stunning scenery and spectacular views.
