The Puglia/Molise region

There are many places to visit in the beautiful area of Puglia. The town of Lecce is well worth a visit and is known as the Florence of the south, or you could visit Alberobello where you can see some of the famous trulli. The weather is warm in both May and October, and hot for the summer months, though always with a cooling breeze coming off the sea.

Ostuni / San Michele Salentino area

San Michele Salentino is a vibrant village a short distance south of Ostuni. There are lots of beautiful sandy beaches nearby where you can sunbathe and relax, as well as various interesting sights such as the village of Torre Santa Sabina which dates back to the 15th century, or the nature reserve at Torre Guaceto.

How to get there

Ryan Air operate out of London Stansted to Bari (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) or to Brindisi (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday). Hertz hire cars through the Ryanair website are very good value.London (Gatwick) to Bari on Thursdays and Saturdays British Airways.

Easyjet, Alitalia and British Airways fly to Naples and Pescara about 3 hour's drive away. There are now numerous internal cheap Italian flights Volareweb, Alpi Eagles and Blue Express to Bari and Brindisi from many of the major Italian cities.

Ellea resort is 20 minutes drive from Brindisi and 45 minutes from Bari.
