A Trullo must be one of the memorable types of accommodation in which to stay and enjoy the holiday.

These historic limestone buildings with conical drysone roofs are unique to this region of Italy. Carefully restored by local craftsmen and set in the beautiful countryside of Puglia surrounded by olive and almond groves.

Trullo degli Ulivi is that bit more memorable in that it has retained, even glorified, all the bare interiors of its ceilings. This means that guest have the rare chance to stay in a ‘trullo’ with soaring vaulted stone ceilings, with complicate church like symmetrically perfect arches.

In one bedroom guests can even stare up at the bare inside of the conical roof finished in the beautiful locally quarried white and pink stone. The Trullo degli Ulivi is perfect for family holidays, breaks for couples and friends.

The Puglia/Molise region

Many places to visit like the beautiful Lecce, the Florence of the south, Brindisi, Ostuni, Otranto, Matera, Alberobello, the trulli town, Caste del Monte, Trani, fabulous grottoes and many other places.

The climate in June, July, August and September is hot; however the nice breezes between the Adriatic and Ionian seas keep the experience memorable. May and October are beautiful months for enjoying the quite of the region still with warm weather.

Ostuni / San Michele Salentino area

San Michele Salentino is la beautiful vibrant village located approx. 13km to the South of Ostuni, within the province of Brindisi.

Beaches:
The region owns one of the most beautiful patrimonies of the Italian coast. Along both coasts of the region, Adriatic and Ionian, there are beautiful golden beaches and nature reserves. Those closer to the Trullo include

Torre Santa Sabina
Torre Santa Sabina is a beautiful village dating back to the XV century. Torre Aragonese overlooks this beautiful beach and has many shops, restaurants and bars.

Torre Guaceto
Torre Guaceto is a nature reserve and is a protected area of the World Wildlife Foundation. Cycling, snorkelling and pony trekking are available in this area.
The word “Torre” comes from the presence of a tower that is part of a series of towers which are present along this coast line.

Specchiolla
So called because it is a beautiful place where the sky is reflected by the sea.

How to get there

Ryan Air operate out of London Stansted to Bari (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) or to Brindisi (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday). Hertz hire cars through the Ryanair website are very good value.

London (Gatwick) to Bari on Thursdays and Saturdays British Airways.

Easyjet, Alitalia and British Airways fly to Naples and Pescara about 3 hour's drive away. There are now numerous internal cheap Italian flights Volareweb, Alpi Eagles and Blue Express to Bari and Brindisi from many of the major Italian cities.

Trulli degli Ulivi is 20 minutes drive from Brindisi and 45 minutes from Bari. Full driving directions are given two weeks prior to arrival, our representative will meet you in the main square of San Michele Salentino will direct you to the Trullo and will hand over to you the key.

The trullo consists of:

A living and dining room
A kitchen corner
2 double bedroom
2 small double bedrooms

1 external gazebo area with BBQ facilities
1 external shower (all visitors enjoyed it a lot)
Surrounded with olive and fruit tree gardens

Bedrooms:
-2 double bedrooms (king-size beds) of which one situated in the main trullo and guests can even stare up at the bare inside of the conical roof finished in the beautiful locally quarried white and pink stone. The 2 main double bedrooms have access to the garden.

-2 small double bedrooms
The 2 bathrooms are with shower and featured with white and pink stones

The kitchen and living areas have again direct access to the garden and the gazebo and pool area. A TV with DVD player is available with movies in English for entertaining the kids and for relaxing after a day out in the sun.

But we always suggest our guests to take advantages of the enjoyable activities and festivals that happen in the streets of San Michele during the summer nights where they can also benefit from a cheap and beautiful fresh cooked meal out.

Further details outdoors:
The gardens and fruit trees are all around the property (nearly 8000 sqm of land). In front of the property there is the pool area with solarium and in the back a beautiful gazebo area where guests can enjoy a delicious BBQ prepared in the traditional stone backing oven.

The parking space for cars is in inside the property and near the garden.

Use of the pool from late May to October inclusive (depending on weather conditions).

Refundable breakages deposit of £100 payable at the arrival. Returnable at the departure, subject to satisfactory property inspection.

Booking deposit of £500 per week, non refundable, payable at time of booking. Balance payable 10 weeks prior to arrival date. Electricity and Gas included in the rate

Parents are responsible for looking after their children in the garden and pool area.

I just wanted to let you know we had a wonderful stay in your Trullo the week of August 4. We enjoyed our time there very much, and we loved Puglia. We have travelled in Italy quite a bit, and in previous years have stayed at villas in Sardinia, Tuscany and Umbria. Puglia is really special, and we hope to return next year if possible.

We have had a very relaxing two weeks here. The villa is so peaceful and comfortable. We hope to come back next year!.

The trulli is set in beautiful surroundings and is very peaceful. The trulli itself is absolutely beautiful and the interior is gorgeous. We have made good use of the swimming pool. The outside shower has been lovely.

We did not come on holiday; we came to hire an “alternative lifestyle”. And we found it and we loved it. San Michele has a wonderful central location to explore in all directions, and the residents are delightful and helpful.
