The Puglia/Molise region

Puglia has a great deal to offer: hundreds of miles of coastline, ancient and unspoilt hill towns, and always nature at its best: beautiful, rugged scenery with gnarled olive trees, spring flowers, red soil and acres of vineyards. The towns of Ostuni, Martina Franca, Alberobello, famous for its trulli - thousands of circular stone hobbit-like houses and Cisternino are just a few miles away from the trullo and they all offer stunning architecture, lovely walks and a choice of superb restaurants.
The excellent white wines of Locorotondo and the reds from the Salentine peninsular will complement your 'alfresco' meals under the ancient olive trees of our trulli. Here you are never too far from the sea. The Adriatic and the Ionian seas offer large beaches and quiet coves, with beautiful clear blue water. The more you explore this area the more enchanted you will be by its unspoilt beauty.
The Ostuni / Cisternino area
The Sea - The Ostuni coast with emerald coloured sea and sandy coves is a 30-minutes drive away. You can get to the sea in about half an hour. If you go to Costa Merlata or Torre Pozzelle (off the 379) you can choose from a series of rocky coves and lovely clear water for swimming. Also you can go to one of the Lidos situated along the coast – where you can find sandy dunes.
Excursions: Puglia has a lot to offer - apart from Ostuni, the lovely 'Città Bianca' for its whitewashed medieval houses and the great sea view vistas - one should see these delightful small towns all close to Pascarosa:
Martina Franca: an exquisite old town with beautiful baroque architecture - here an International Opera Festival takes place during late July / August. Little known operas are staged in the courtyard of the wonderful Palazzo Ducale.
Locorotondo: built in a circular formation, hence its name, where streets spiral up to a magnificent church visible for miles around. The area is famous for its deliciously crispy white wine.
Cisternino: with a delightful old small centro storico. There is music in the square most evenings
Alberobello: famous for its trulli - thousands of circular stone hobbit-like houses with cone-shaped roofs made of dry stones without cement. If you want them in abundance climb the steps to the old quarter which has a small museum in a group of trulli and you could be back in the 17th century!
Lecce. A splendid town, known also as 'the Florence of the South'. Its baroque architecture, the Roman amphitheatre and the magnificent Piazza Duomo make this an unmissable destination.

Guestbook for Il Paradiso
Rick Stein came to my trullo in Pascarosa and this is his comment: "my friend Anna Maggio has bought a trullo just outside Ostuni and renovated it into an amazingly atmospheric house set in an olive grove"
(Rick Stein's Mediterranean Escapes)
"Il Paradiso certainly lives up to its name. So peaceful and a great break away from the rush of England. All the local towns are beautiful. Alberobello was the family favourite. This is our 5th trip to Italy and we love Puglia as much as the other wonderful places we have been.
Thanks a lot Anna" Andy and Sarah, August 2010
"We've had a really different experience of Italy this time! We love the trullo, so quiet and surrounded by nature - lizards everywhere, a hoopoe that landed on the roof and did his distinctive call.
We will miss waking up in this lovely home!" Tez and Jena Tuck, May 2010
"We just felt under the charm. Everything was perfect. We just want to come back.
Thanks Anna"
Antoine and Sylvie, July 2010
"We have had a wonderful family holiday: autumn sunshine, delicious food and memorable moments. We shall return to Puglia to explore the beaches of the Salentine and the forests of the Gargano.
Until then, arrivederci"
Barbara and Stuart, October 2010
Thank you Anna; it was a unique and unforgettable holiday, in a wonderful part of the world. I hope I can get back to Puglia one day.
Robert Sargent, Australia, Oct 2009
We had the most super time! The trullo is a credit to you. We shall spread the word!

What a marvellous few days in an idyllic setting!! Far from the madding crowd, a truly Romeo and Juliet experience. My other half enjoyed it too : 1) Can't wait to return again as soon as possible!! The Trullo exceeded our expectations inside and out!! as did the local scenery. Spotlessly clean, tidy, comfortable and tastefully furnished, a remarkable renovation! We want one too!! or lets be greedy.....more than one!! A real life Hobbit house, home from home. Bilbo and Frodo!!
T. Colgan - Co Antrim - Oct. 2008
For purely selfish reasons I am reluctant to write this review – simply because I would like to keep this idyllic trullo all to myself (and I am certain that once you have stayed here you will understand my sentiments).
My husband and I spent a wonderful week in October 2008 at Trullo Il Paradiso – if you are searching for exceptional accommodation, in a tranquil setting, in the heart of the Puglian countryside, then look no further.
Our stay at Trullo Il Paradiso far exceeded our expectations - the setting (in the heart of an ancient olive grove); interior design (a perfect balance of style and functionality); and amenities (everything you could wish for and more including whiter than white bed linen and towels) were all exceptional.
We enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing week based at Il Paradiso and found the olive groves and local area ideal for outdoor pursuits such as walking and running. The trullo was also ideally located to enable us to explore Puglia and to enjoy some lovely evenings out in the surrounding towns of Martina Franca, Ostuni and Cisternino most of which are less than a 15/20 minute drive away. That said, one of our most memorable evenings was at the trullo itself when Aurora (our local contact for the trullo) prepared a glorious meal for us (from Antipasti to Dolce).
Trullo Il Paradiso is aptly named and I look forward to returning - hopefully in the not too distant future.
