Villa Castelli is a great base and is ideally located to visit the cities: Brindisi, Bari, Lecce, Taranto, Ostuni, Egnathia - the 2nd most important Roman archaeological site in Italy, Fasano (also home to a Zoo Safari Park), the breath-taking Grotto at Castellana and the utterly quaint rural town full of Trulli's - Alberobello!

The region of Puglia has one of the hottest climates in Italy - temperatures ranging from 18°c to 42°c March to October. Puglia has unique 13th century towns complete with winding streets, cobbled alleyways and historic Baroque buildings. Puglia is still largely undiscovered by overseas visitors, with cathedrals, baroque romantic churches, great selection of shops, bars and restaurants in the towns you are spoilt for choice.

Ostuni is a great base & near the famous UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Puglia - the medieval Castel del Monte (Bari) and also Alberobello (known as the Trulli town) - houses which are curious, rounded structures with grey stone cone-shaped roofs which sometimes are also painted white.
San Giovanni Rotondo (Home to Padre Pio), Fasano (Home to Zoo Safari Park), Monopoli (Home to Egnathia the 2nd most important Roman archaeological Site), Bari, Brindisi, Lecce, Locorotondo, Martina Franca and Gallipoli are all a drive away.

Festival Days:- 15 August = Sagra degli altri tempi The historic centre is the scene for a display of old traditions, costumes and food preparation by the people of the old town. You can taste various types of traditional dishes and see the local artisansat work.
26 August = La Cavalcata La Cavalcata is a horse parade that follows the procession of Saint Oronzo, the protector of the city. A silver statue of the saint is carried in memory of the knights who protected the pilgrims on the way to the sanctuary from the attacks of bandits. Horses and riders have mantillas and costumes in gold or silver embroidery.
2nd Sunday August = La processione della Grata This procession leaves the Sanctuary della Grata to go to the centre of the city and, in the evening, the candles of the six thousand people who usually take part, light up the countryside. It is a striking scene you can watch from the top of the city.
