Home description

The complex dates back to the end of the 19th century, beginning of the 20th and is constituted by a mix of trulli and lamie, built in local stone. The Riposo del Vento B&B is composed of a group of trulli of five cones, a lamia with a barrel vault, a cellar with an entrance-alcove and a wood-burning oven to cook outside. It’s placed in a big garden with ancient olive trees, completely at the guests’ disposal. Here you’ll be able to work on your tan or take shelter in the shadow of the trees, reading a book, or idly swing in a hammock, immersed in the unique sounds of nature.

The Riposo del Vento B&B has mountain bikes and a vintage, cabriolet Volkswagen Beetle at the guests’ disposal, to travel around the countryside or the coast. They can be rented by the day or the week. By request, you’ll be served aperitif in the garden or Puglia’s dinners, with genuine, local dishes, with fresh-baked bread.
So you'll can rent the house with self-catering or decide to rent like the bed and breakfast way.

At the Riposo del Vento, we aren’t offering just a place to sleep, but also a fill of emotions. You won’t just sleep in rooms furnished with natural materials, such as wood, stone and linen, but you’ll also be able to enjoy the quiet of the garden, start the day with a genuine breakfast, do a cycle ride along the country roads, among olive groves, vineyards and stretches of little red tomatoes, sample a varied aperitif of local products while watching the sunset, when the light breeze recalls that even the wind decided to stop here…

The Puglia/Molise region

The Riposo del Vento B&B lays in the heart of Valle d’Itria, in the countryside of Cisternino: only a few kilometres from the sea and in a central position from the historical small towns of Ostuni, the ‘white town’, MartinaFranca, the ‘lady’, Alberobello, city of the trulli, declared world heritage by UNESCO, Locorotondo e Ceglie Messapica.

Ostuni / Cisternino area

The TRULLI are one of the most extraordinary examples of italian architecture, renowned all over the world for their beauty and simplicity. They've been built since prehistory, when they still were simple huts made of round stone, then they evolved, absorbing characteristics of other cultures. The original shape developped with hearth and windows, then the plan changed from the round shape to the square one and various blocks started to join together, forming complete apartments. Some changes were made in order to adapt them to domestic usage; niches and shelves gained from the thickness of the walls, the external and internal walls and the top part of the conical roof were plastered. The trulli of Alberobello have been declared world heritage by UNESCO.
The coast extends for 20 Km, alternating landscapes and vegetation that merge together.
A series of cliffs with wonderful depths and white sand shores, with green and thick Mediterranean bush.
The coast is provided with all the equipment and structues that can ensure a pleasant vacation, like bars, restaurants, clubs, sports facilities, boat and beach umbrellas renting.
There are several beaches where you can have a pleasant swim and you can do come snorkeling.

GOURMET ATTRACTIONS:
Pugliese dishes will astonish you, and you won't be able to resist their unique, fresh and genuine flavours, because in Puglia there's a deep-rooted culinary tradition. It's composed mostly of simple dishes, with local products: a light dance between land and sea: home-made pasta, several kind of vegetables, cheese, meat and fish and very good wine. Fire is still mostly used to cook and who has the wood-burning oven uses it to cook variou dishes, based on the heat and the cooking time. They cook anything: taralli, bread, vegetables, beans, focaccia, figs...
As hors d'œuvre you'll be able to eat local cheese and salami along with the renowned taralli, dry biscuits salted and spiced with pepper or fennel. As first course you can choose among the countless varieties of home-made pasta like orecchiette with sauce and pecorino cheese or ricotta, or with turnip tops and anchovies. As a second course, there's a variety of meat and fish that goes well with local wines, red or white - for example the Primitivo di Manduria and the Negramaro among the red and white of Martina Franca or Locorotondo.
