'Trullo della Luna' is a farmhouse, it is the typical building house you can find in Valle d'Itria: it is a classic 4-cones rural trullo. This type of building was once used only by the local peasants, now its shapes are appreciated by the entire world and are representative of this Italian region and its ancient culture. This area of Apulia is becoming a new Chianti, a place where the nature fuses its beauty into the controlled, quiet human environment. We recently bought this trullo when it was completely abandoned. As we are both architects, we saw it as if its dry-stone blocks were the ruins of an ancient temple, and we are still restoring it with a great enthusiasm. Briefly though it is well worth visiting the city of Matera with its abandoned old town, which is included by UNESCO in its World Heritage Sites. Or Alberobello, considered the quaintest town in Italy, it consists almost entirely of trulli (over a thousand of them); a series of urban quarters entirely full filled by neatly whitewashed houses with conical roofs, made of superimposed dry-stone blocks.
Approximately 20 km from Trullo della Luna there is the Natural Reserve of Torre Guaceto, a stretch of uncontaminated coast with beautiful small beaches of crystal clear waters. The park extends itself for approximately 1,000 hectares of land and 2,000 hectares of sea including about seven kilometres of uncontaminated small bays of golden sand alternated with beautiful headlands. Here you can go bike riding, snorkelling, sailing or just soak up the incredible atmosphere.
Other places of interest include the beautiful village of Grottaglie, famous for the handmade ceramic products. Or the caves of Grotte di Castellana and Fasano Wildlife Park- ideal family day trips! The small round village, Locorotondo,made by whitewashed buildings with plenty of small shops and restaurants also makes for an interesting day out- be sure to try the local wine!

Ostuni is situated on three hills at the edge of the Murge, a short distance away from the Adriatic coast and 18 km from Trullo della Luna. The medieval village is clustered on one of the three hills and stands with its whitewashed facade over a limestone cliff. Thus Ostuni is called also "the white town". We suggest visiting this town when the sky is particularly clear or even when a thunderstorm is coming and the sun still lights up the buildings: the intense contrast of luminescence gives a unique great effect! It's also amazing taking a visit on evening when the town shows its tourist vocation offering numerous candle lit restaurants, bars and shops. The town, Messapian in origin, has also many important pieces of architecture and art which is worth visiting. The cattedrale (15th cent.) has a splendid gothic facade and the interior was remodelled in 18th century style.
How to get there
Trullo della Luna is located in the interland of Ostuni, south east of the famous Valle d'Itria, the trulli-area (Alberobello, Cisternino, Locorotondo), not far from the Torre Guaceto National Marine Reserve, a park with 7km of uncontaminated sea-coast with plenty of small crystal waters bays and white sand beaches. The environmental protection leaves new innovative ways of enjoying and being part of the nature: excursions, snorkelling, sailing, windsurfing etc. Many daily trips are also possible: Alberobello, Fasano, Matera, Ostuni, Oria, Mesagne, San Vito dei Normanni, Carovigno… all beautiful tourist goals. Our trullo is completely immersed in a beautiful olive grove. and it is located 20 minutes by car from Brindisi Airport, frequently served by Ryanair at very convenient prices. Our promotional offer includes the use of our car (available close to the airport). Eurostar trains stop in Ostuni.

Further details indoors: 'Trullo della Luna' is composed by a main dome-shaped room where there is a sofabed (2) and 3 vaulted 'alcova', on 1 side, 2 of them form a small bedroom with another sofabed (2), from the other side there is the kitchenette. In the new area on the rear of the building there is a bedroom with a double bed and the bathroom with wash basin, wc, bidet, shower.
Further details outdoors: Outside the building, near the swimming pool, there is another important 'room', a sort of yard, once used for goats and sheep now a beautiful place with a table and a wooden pergola. Our trullo is completely immersed in a beautiful olive grove. When we bought the trullo, we though it is the best place to have relaxing moments. Our exclusive swimming pool (5 mt x 11 mt), surrounded by olive groves and located just aside of the trullo, will help you sampling the silences and the beauty of this place.

So we preferred to offer different prices according to the number in party. For a third or a fourth person you have to add approximately 10%, for a fifth or for a sixth person you have to add approximately 18%. Everything will be clear! === Optional extra costs: - weekly rate for the use of the exclusive swimming pool: 170.00 € -normally not in use or required in low season periods; on demands.
