The Puglia/Molise region
Puglia is one of the last corners of Italy where you don't see a Pub nor a Fish & Chips Shop, and may it long last. Italian food is well known worldwide, and the Puglia region is a strong contributor to the Italian cusine.
Wines and olives are produced in abundance ( 20-25% of Italy's production), and a quality to match.
Historic places and heritage stands up to any region in Italy, from World Heritage Alberobello with its over 1000 trullies, to the baroque Lecce.
The countryside varies from dramatic mountains, to fertile lush valleys, rightly called the kitchen gardens of Italy.
The varied coastline of the area offer sandy blue flagged beaches, and rugged dramatic coast.
Ostuni the "Citta Bianca" with its old part perched on a mount, offer narrow winding alleyways, with architecture inspired by the various rulers of the area over hundred of years. The variety of Ristorante's and Pizzerias, places for a quiet drink, add to the atmosphere of this cosmopolitan city.
The small summer towns dotted along the coastline, also offer the chance to sample seafood, all freshly caught and prepared.

"Excellent villa, with all you need for a hassle free stay."
We stayed at Villa Caruso in August, a family with 3 older teenagers. A well appointed villa, comfortable, Air Con a huge bonus as was the pool. We found lilos in the garage, balls, and boules, books to choose from the book shelf, and all the kitchen utelsils one needs - along with condiments. Outside space amazing, lots of seating/eating areas. It took a little while to get to grips with Ostuni as it was larger than we had expected, but once settled we enjoyed our trips in to the many cafes, excellent bars/shops (found a little shop selling homemade pasta - wow!) and loved the windy streets and views across to the coast. All the local villages were well worth visiting, with markets on different days of the week, always a must for us as we ate at home a lot, using the fab real fire BBQ. and making our own tomatoe sauce. Evenings spent enjoying the space, peace and quiet and the pool. Card games on the verandah, beer in the fridge.
An ideal location for the coast (we didn't visit as we were there during the Italians holiday and it was extremely busy - but looked gorgeous from a far) and sightseeing the area, very helpful owners before and during our trip, as was David who came and cleaned the pool. I would say a car is essential as you need to drive to the town, but the villa is as described and I wouldn't hestitate to recommend.

"Trulli Amazing Stay"
I'm happy to say we had a really great stay in Villa Caruso. The welcome pack we received when we arrived was very welcome and It is a perfect base for exploring Puglia and the various nearby city \ towns such as Lecce (Great Architecture), Monopoli (Lovely Town and Marina), Alberobello (White Trulli town).
The villa is 5mins drive from the lovely town of Ostuni with it's beautiful architecture and unforgettable white stacked buildings. I will always remember watching the wonderful Cavalcata di Sant'Oronzo fireworks display from the rooftop of the villa whilst sipping on a glass of Primitivo wine.
The villa has air conditioning which was essential during our stay as the temperature was around 25 - 28 deg C at night.
It was really sad to leave. The Kids loved every minute especially the swimming pool which was a god send, the local ice cream parlors and the lovely Lido Morelli beach in Pizone.
The only downside of our stay was the pesky Wasps and Mosquitos but the handy supply of citronella candles and insect repellent soon put paid to that.

"Lovely villa close to arguably the most interesting city in Puglia."
Villa, a tastefully converted Trulli in grounds with almond and lemon trees, small but adequate pool, had all the attention to detail that could be required to make the ideal base to explore Puglia. O… More

"A very private comfortable traditional Italian Trulli/Villa."
I wouldn't hesitate at the chance to go back for another stay. Absolutely loved it. Unless you plan on a chill out do nothing holiday you would need the use of a vehicle. We felt very comfortable and safe in the property. We found the 3 different terraces ideal for the different times of day with the sun, providing ample shade if needed and the dipping pool a godsend in the 35°average daily temperature. Everything was provided for right down to the use of a satnav with directions to the nearest supermarket, to places of interest to visit all pre installed by the owners. Excellent.

"The house has everything you need for an enjoyable relaxing holiday"
Having had a most enjoyable holiday in Villa Caruso last year we decided to return in 2011. On arrival there is a very generous Welcome Pack which is most acceptable. The house itself is extremely well equipped, and has everything you need on a day-to-day basis. The pool is very well maintained, and is a real bonus in the very hot weather. The large garden has not only almond trees, but also a lemon tree and a large vine - freshly picked lemons go down a treat in the G & T's! The house is located in a rural setting of stone walls and olive trees, but also near the beautiful city of Ostuni, and the sandy beaches of the Adriatic. A car is a necessity, which can be easily acquired at either Bari or Brindisi airports, or at the train stations. We would highly recommend the house and the location for a holiday, and we ourselves would hope to return for another visit

"Quiet, relaxing stay amidst the almond and olive trees and trulli"
What a lovely area of olive groves, almond trees and lemon blossom. Completely relaxing spot with easy access to the beaches and hill top town like Ostini gives the best of all worlds. Take the time to visit the hill top towns in the evenings for lovely restaurant meals but buy your own food in the wonderful market in Ostini on Saturdays.
The house is quaint as part of it is a trulli one of the conical shepherds "huts." In the region I loved Lecce with its character and rich warm golden stone buildings.
