The Puglia/Molise region

The Salento, a true wonder of the Italian peninsula, narrow and long reclining between the Adriatic Sea and the Ionian Sea, is characterized by coast that are highly suggestive and charming, which feature a variety of situations so different as to constitute a constant surprise.

The sea is a spell of intense light with its thousand shades from cobalt blue to turquoise crystal clear waters of a unique transparency.

You can change route every day (a good road network allows you to make long distance in a short time choosing routes and detours that lead into the sea and vice versa or village from the Ionian Sea to the Adriatic) as there are numerous and extensive beaches with white sand ideal for families with children (Torre dell'Orso in Otranto, Porto Cesareo, Gallipoli, Ugento etc..) and many other places with spectacular cliffs overlooking the sea full of fish, for the more experienced swimmers and divers fans interrupted by coves accessible only by sea, bays, tunnels, and caves (Castro, Santa Cesarea, Miggiano Porto, Porto Badisco, Porto Selvaggio, St. Catherine, Torre San Giovanni, Santa Maria di Leuca, etc..).

On the coast, you can meet old watchtowers to defend the Turks and inlets refuge of the fishing boats.

The fish is freshly caught, something suggestive: the mullet of Porto Cesareo, lobsters of Leuca, squid, mullet, bream, octopus and the fish market in Gallipoli with its "auctions" scenarios choreographic intent to untangle fishing nets after a night at sea.

The taste and the smell of freshly caught sea urchins or custom tasted with lemon and eaten with bread typical, it is definitely a must see for tourists to Castro, Porto Badisco and other seaside resorts.

Ostuni

San Michele Salentino is a town of 6,246 inhabitants in the province of Brindisi. It is part of high Salento.

The town is a potential tourist starting point that allows easy reach of many places of Puglia great cultural, historical and artistic, from baroque Martina Franca, Alberobello, the kingdom of trulli, the capital of Magna Graecia, Taranto, the spectacular cities of Salento, Lecce.

The appendix of the name comes from its position in the Salento peninsula, specifically in the northern part of it, and this has the characteristic of low altitude (153 m above sea level). For the rest of the country suffers from a prevailing influence of the neighboring land of Murge. From a morphological point of view, in fact, San Michele Salentino shares with the Eastern Murge an underground karst generous guardian of natural caves, and an undulating landscape, crossed blades, small sinkholes and favor. And the eyes of observers do not, in the middle from the red clay and olive trees, architectural elements common to rock Murgia: the white rural buildings with conical dome, which is precisely the trulli and lamia numerous stone walls delimiting the plots. The culture itself reveals a predominance of elements Murgia, given the recent origin derived from setting our local farmers mainly from Ostuni and Ceglie, cities located in the most southern Murgia.

"Masseria Nova" is the name 'unofficial' attributed to the city for a long time by its inhabitants, is characterized, then, given its spread inland Apulia, for its essence mostly rural. Its strong agricultural vocation is demonstrated by the considerable production of not only excellent extra virgin olive oil, but also of the many local fruit and vegetable products, with its products. And while claiming, now for a couple of decades, a certain primacy in reselling the used car, San Michele Salentino, with its myriad of small farmers and the embryonic but growing attention for a productive activity also geared towards a particular type tourism, the rural, continues to derive from the primary sector a large part of his subsistence income.
