Home description
Only a few kilometres from the beautiful “White City” of Ostuni and the attractive beaches of the Adriatic coast, lies Terra Sessana. This prestigious complex spans 4 hectares and consists of 3 properties: a restored Trullo house (sleeps up to 4); a romantic one bedroom house, built in a local architectural style, known as a “Lamia” (sleeps up to 4) and a Villa with a large garden overlooking the sweeping fields of the Sessana district (sleeps up to 5). The property takes its name from the area in which it is located: Contrada Sessana, whose name, in turn, derives from the Latin “sanus”, meaning “healthy” and brings to mind the idea of a healthy life in harmony with nature. Each property has its own swimming pool set in private gardens with lush lawns, ancient olive trees and views across the surrounding countryside. The interiors have been tastefully decorated with refined yet comfortable furnishings, which perfectly complement the antique flooring, stone vaulted ceilings and stone fireplaces. The blue sky, olive trees, fragrance and colours of the natural Mediterranean vegetation provide a perfect backdrop to this enchanting place; offering guests peace and serenity in close contact with the regenerative powers of the countryside. The trulli, the villa and the lamia are self contained and autonomous, and can be rented together or separately.

Ostuni area
Ostuni is a small city in the province of Brindisi (Puglia, Italy), with a population of about 32,000 situated about 8 km from the coast. Its main economic activities include tourism, known for its nearby pristine beaches, as well as a vibrant olive and grape agribusiness.
Ostuni area has been inhabitated since the stone age. The town is reputed to have been originally established by the Messapii, a pre-classic tribe, and destroyed by Hannibal during the Punic Wars. It was then re-build by Greek colons, since the current name derives from ""Astu néon"" ("new town").
The so-called "Old Town" is Ostuni's citadel build on the top of a hill and still fortified with the ancient walls. Ostuni is reputed an architectural jewel, and is commonly referred to as "the White Town" ("La Città Bianca", in Italian) for its white walls and its typically white-painted architecture. A monument on its own, the town's largest buildings are the Cathedral and the Bishop's Palace, alongside with a few palazzi of some of the aristocratic families of the region: Aurisicchio, Ayroldi, Bisantizzi, Falghieri, Ghionda, Giovine, Jurleo, Marseglia, Palmieri, Petrarolo, Siccoda, Urselli, Zaccaria.
Outside the town, in the country's landscape there is the typical presence of the Pugliese "masserie", fortified large estate-farms, among which San Domenico, a masseria once held by the Knights of Malta.
The city's patron Saint is Saint Oronzo. Each year a three day festival is held from the 25th to the 27th of August in his name.
