The Puglia/Molise region
Speak to any Italian of any region, and they will all tell you that Puglia is famous for its sun, food, wine, and beaches. The warmth of the weather is matched only by the warmth of the people. Families and singles of all description are welcomed and well cared for in all of our local restaurants, shops, gelaterias, cafes and bars. A spectacular spot for a guaranteed sunny holiday from May to September!
Ostuni, La citta bianca (the white city), reminiscent of a Moorish Casbah but with that particularly Italian la dolce vita attitude, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Within minutes drive of Villa Palma, plenty of historic and architectural interest combine with lively nightlife, great food and drink, and some upscale shopping. The beaches of Ostuni have won the 5 vela (5 sails) best beaches rating for the past 4 years -- cleaned each morning, with lots of parking, our local beaches are beautiful, safe for swimming, and have wonderful Adriatic vistas. Snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming, windsurfing and kitesurfing are all happening.

"Villa Palma, Ostuni, Italy 27th July - 16th August 2013"
We had a lovely 3 week stay at the villa it is set in 2.5 acres of olive & fruit trees. It is a very beautiful, peaceful & private. The villa was clean & comfortable & had all the facilities. Fresh linen & towels were brought weekly & the pool cleaned twice weekly when it was convenient for us. The pool was great for cooling off & sitting on the side of to sunbathe & for using at night as the pool had a night light.
Paola & Jim the owners were there to meet us on our arrival ( they are willing to meet guests from airport or anywhere if necessary.) They are a lovely couple & Paola speaks fluent English & Italian. Their hospitality was superb the best we have had of the many villas we have stayed in. On arrival there was a large welcome basket so you did not have to rush out for an evening meal or breakfast & there was fresh fruit from there farm they live on ( approx. 20 mins from the villa.) The day after our arrival they took us & showed us where all the local shops & beach were which were all only 10 mins away. The beach was quiet & there were plenty of bars & restaurants. Ostuni the white city is only 6 kms away & there is plenty of evening entertainment & lots to see. There is an excellent market in caravignio on a Tuesday which paola & jim offered to take us to. Alberobello is well worth a visit to see the trullis for which it is famous. The zoo/safari in Fasano is fantastic & well priced for a day out.
We would recommend the villa highly for couples, families & is very wheelchair friendly. It was nice to meet such a lovely couple who went out of there way to help ( nothing was to much trouble.) We wish we were still there & hopefully will be back soon.

It was our first visit to the Puglia region. Our hosts, Paola & Jim, met us at Bari airport. Villa Palma was beyond our expectations, lovely roomy and situated in a beautiful olive grove. Paola welcomed us with a basket of organic eggs, bread and vegetables from her own garden to make sure that we will have a delicious first breakfast in Villa Palma. Taking a dip in the pool under the bright stars is something memorable. Paola & Jim cleaned the house and pool once a week and made sure there were fresh towels. Our hosts were always just a phonecall away to guide us in our explorations of the lovely lido's and beaches, and the ancient cities of Ostuni and Lecce
Make sure to book a wine tour with Paola as your guide - not only is the visit to the wine cellars a wonderful experience, but the tasting turns out to be super fun with Paola's unique sense of humor!!
We will surely return to stay in lovely Puglia and see our new BFF - Paola & Jim on our next visit. (and get some more of Paola's organic olive oil :))
