A traditional stone property situated on the outskirts of the village of Ortakoy (near Seydikemer and Fethiye) in the beautiful countryside of the Mugla region. A fabulous opportunity to taste the real Turkey, away from the hustle of the busier tourist resorts but with access if required. Ideal for couples or families with children who want to get away from it all.
The brick built BBQ and large private swimming pool encourages you to enjoy the outdoor life. There is lots to do in the surrounding area or simply just relax.
The property benefits from thick stone walls, which keep it cool in the heat of the summer and warm in the colder winter months. It has a shaded terrace and plenty of sunbathing areas. The pool gets sunshine the whole day through.
The property is surrounded by fields and stunning mountains. The sunsets are fantastic to watch and the mountains turn red! With little light pollution, the stars at night are incredible and it's possible to sit outside with your favourite tipple watching regular shooting stars through the telescope provided!

We have sought to make the property a home from home and equipped with all the necessities and, in addition, some extras, e.g. air-conditioning, a selection of CDs, DVDs, books and board games. Similarly, we have endeavored to make the property welcoming for people of all ages, however, the pool is a typical Turkish built one and does not have a shallow-end.
The property is rural, being on the outskirts of a small village, with Kemer being the nearest town, crica 10 km away. There is a dolmus service which some guests have enjoyed using, but for those who wish to explore the area, car hire is strongly recommended.
A Turkish mobile phone is available on request. Internet is available via a wireless SIM card gizmo; suitable for iPads, laptops and tablets.

Sun loungers and parasols are provided. The private swimming pool is approx 45sq.m. During the cooler months the pool is decommissioned - please contact the owners for more information.
The property is sited in about half an acre of land and therefore has a large private garden. There are fruit trees growing in the grounds (white mulberry, peach, lemon, etc). If you're staying whilst they're fruiting please do pick what you wish.
There is a step up to the veranda and a couple of door steps in the property. Therefore the property is not suitable for those in wheelchairs. However, those with limited mobility may still find it suitable as its all on one floor.
It is a non-smoking property, as there is plenty of outside space, smokers are welcome so long as they do so in these areas and not inside the property.
Pets are not typically accepted. Please enquire with your specific situation.
Responding to guest feedback during the winter of 2013/ 2014 we renovated the en-suite bathroom and shower room. Both now reflect the overall standard that we wish to offer with Mountain View. In addition, there are two mattresses; a hard one (which can be softened with a topper) and a softer one. If you have a preference, please let us know when booking.
The Turkish Aegean Coast region
This is an ideal location for either just chilling, or for exploring the local area. The rural nature of the property lends itself to fishing, painting, photography and walking. It is also a great base for exploring, 20 min drive to Tlos and Yakapark, 30 min to Saklikent Gorge, 40 mins to Fethiye and the various activities such as boat trips. A number of beaches are within easy reach (Calis, Olu Deniz, Patara, to name just a handful). Many historical sites are also within easy reach. One end of the 500km Lycian Way (long distance footpath) starts at Ovacik. Further afield, Kas (and a trip across to Greece) or swim with the dolphins, or a day trip to Rhodes from Fethiye.
The property is on the outskirts of Ortakoy (10 minute walk), a small village with a couple of convenience shops and a couple of tea houses (one serving kofte / kebabs with a very helpful owner). A market is held in the square every week (Wednesday) selling fresh fruit and veg.
Kemer is the nearest town 10km away with restaurants, food shops, (e.g butcher, baker, Tesko). 2 miles away is the tiny hamlet of Oren, famous for its trout restaurants overlooking the river. The drive to Kemer is through pine forests and views of the beautiful countryside. Kemer is a traditional Turkish town, having a town square with shops. It has 2 main restaurants - 1 in a riverside setting and the other elevated on the hillside overlooking the town. Both serve a variety of local dishes and international cuisine. There is a weekly market every Friday where local produce, clothes and souvenirs can be bought. Kemer offers the peaceful living of unspoilt Turkey with the added benefit of being within easy reach of many larger towns and attractions nearby. Other services in Kemer include pharmacies, post office, doctor, internet cafe, hospital, children’s play area, a bank / ATM, souvenir shops, florists and general stores.
Fethiye is a 40 mins drive and is a large and busy working town. It boasts a lovely harbour with great restaurants and cafe's where you can sit and watch the world go by or play a game of backgammon. Boat trips are plentiful with choice from quiet trips to party boats. The old town has some quaint shops and lanes as well as a Hammam (Turkish bath). Fethiye has two large supermarkets: Migros and Carrefour. There is also the famous Tuesday market.
The property is situated between what are claimed to be the two best beaches in Turkey, Olu Deniz and Patara. Olu Deniz is a natural lagoon and takes 40 min in the car. Patara beach is an 18km long sandy beach and takes around 45 min to drive. Other beaches within easy reach include: Calis, Gemiler Bay, Kaputas Bay and Katranci Bay. There is also a water park near to Fethiye for kids to enjoy.
There are a wide range of other sights: boat trips from Fethiye, Yakapark, Saklikent Gorge and a variety of archaeological sites - Telmessos (Fethiye Town), Letoon, Pinara, Patara, Xanthos and Cadianda.

"September in Ortakoy"
The write up of Mountain View on the OD website is accurate, if anything it does not do it justice, particularly with reference to the locality, which is, quite simply, jaw dropping. We found the vill… More

"Fantastic location , stunning views !"
Perfect rural location ,with stunning mountain views . The stone house is set in a colourful garden with a beautiful pool , essential in the hotter months ! The local village is a short walk away and has a market . Chris who looked after the pool was very helpful and gave us some good tips on where to go and recommended the best places to eat . The house was spotless and well equipped with all you need , including wifi for those who cant be without their devices ! The owner Sarah was very helpful before we left and sent excellent instructions on how to get there , which can be quite daunting if you arrive late at night .I would say a car is essential , but we did pas the local bus which seemed to run regularly to the nearest town Kemer which has some bigger local stores and a couple of restaurants. If you can pull yourself away from the pool there are many day trips you can take , all detailed in the excellent property guide book that the owners have put together . This was my first visit to Turkey and staying in Mountain View made me feel I got to see the real country rather than the touristy resorts .I would definitely visit again .

"Near Perfect From Start to Finish"
From our initial enquiry the owner dealt with all our requests very speedily and efficiently. The villa itself is in a peaceful, rural area, in excellent condition and very well equipped with quality furnishings. Whilst there, the English caretaker was friendly, helpful but not obtrusive.
In response to the guest comments we have spent the 2013 / 2014 winter months renovating the two bathrooms (the en-suite bathroom and the shower room). Both have been re-tiled and have new showers and fittings.
In addition, we have taken note of the feedback from this site, our guest comment book and other conversations and would like to mention that there are two mattresses in the property of differing 'hardness'. The one in the master bedroom is hard and the one in the second bedroom soft. If guests have a preference, then we would be happy to meet their requirements.
We thank all our guests for their honest feedback and look forward to future guests being likewise frank about their experience.

"A beautiful countryside retreat with superb views"
we stayed for a week at this fabulous villa, with 2 small children and we can all thoroughly recommend it. From the outset communication with the owner was excellent. The property was very well equipped and the pool was excellent and well maintained. we never tired of the glorious views of the mountains and the abundant . It is off the beaten track, but the nearest shops are only a short walk away, a larger town is approx 15min and beaches are approx 40min/1hr away. This is rural Turkey at it's best.

"Rural Turkish Bliss"
We stayed at Mountain View in May 2013. This beautiful villa is set in rural Turkey at its very best. To go to bed dreaming of the superb mountain views and the abundant wildlife was exiting enough but knowing that the morning would offer again the same views but with a different light was magic! We cannot praise the villa enough, a traditionally built & equipped Turkish single storey house with every possible need for the holidaymaker taken care of, even down to things like freezer packs and cool box for the picnic, of which the Turkish people are so passionate about. The village, Ortakoy is only a 10 minutes walk away where fresh bread and provisions can easily be obtained. The locals are so friendly, the offer of fruit or lift into the village being almost a daily event. The locanta food in the village was sampled on several occasions and although simple was delicious and extremely good value for money. We loved our stay, have no hesitation in recommending the villa to likeminded visitors, i.e. Lovers of traditional Turkish life, food, hospitality & friendliness. We shall return!!
We are so pleased that Mountain View provided you with the 'home from home' feeling; one that we work hard to achieve. As we also use the property for our holidays, we do try to put ourselves in the shoes of our guests to ensure that the little touches are provided.
It is also lovely to hear how the local people clearly embraced you into their environment. We will have to hone our bird watching skills to see if we can identify the Little Owls. We have heard them but never seen them.
There will always be a warm welcome for you at Mountain View, and we would be delighted to have you stay again.

"A hidden treasure - a home away from home!"
Mountain View was the dream place for my wife & I as a honeymoon destination during a Turkey winter! We loved staying in the little cottage for days on end, as it just had everything we needed! One might think that having to hire a car to get to & enjoy the place is a bit much, but once there you realise that being away from it all is the best thing ever! It really was the perfect place to rest & relax. We would definitely choose Mountain View all over again if we had the choice... It really was a hidden treasure!
We are so glad that Mountain View provided you and your new wife with the peace and tranquility that you richly deserved after all the hard work you had both put into your wedding arrangements. We too think that the journey from the airport gives you time to relax and adjust to the calm and space of Ortakoy.
Many thanks for staying as our guests.
