The Sardinia region
Sardinia is a island in the middle Mediterranean sea. Wild nature and a beautiful sea are the most important attraction. It is small enough to be called an island but big enough to be a universe unto itself. It is renowned for deserted beaches, clear emerald coloured waters and fascinating rock formations. The people are warm and friendly and enjoying themselves is a way of life. Yet all this is a mere 2 hour flight from the UK!
Sardinia is an island that allows you to truly experience the very essence of Mediterranean life. The cuisine offers a rich repertoire of dishes, heavily influenced by the country's various neighbours including Corsica and Italy, accompanied by an impressive local wine list! The mixing of game and farm produce (traditional with inland towns) and fish and seafood (traditional with coastal towns) result in a combination of flavours and appearance that is unique to Sardinia.
Climate Sardinia has a pleasant 6 months summer, hot and dry from May to October but often with a breeze due to its location in the centre of the Mediterranean. The winter months are mild with a good amount of sunshine, particularly in March and April when all the flowers are out and it can be hot during the daytime and cooler in the evenings.
Orosei - Nuoro area
There are many beaches with white sand and dunes but also beautiful cliffs. You can find many shopping areas where you can buy replicas and restoration of archaeological ceramics of the Nuragico period, Fenicio, Punico and Roman. Typical foods (honey,cheese,olive oil etc) are also available.
The nearest Beaches: Berchida Locality: Siniscola Service: Restaurant, cafe Splendid and wild beach to South of Head Comino, is accessible taking the road that is found to the right, shortly after the House Cantoniera to around 18 Kms. from Orosei, along the road Orosei-Siniscola.
Cala Liberotto Locality: Orosei Service: Restaurant, hotel, cafe Beautiful beach with pineta retrostante, opens in a line of coast characterized from numerous coves and beaches. On the road Orosei-Siniscola, 11 Kms. after Orosei it is found on the right the deviation
Capo Comino Locality: Siniscola Service: Camping From Siniscola, take the provincial road that conducts to the beach of Saint Lucy, later around 7 kms. If from Saint Lucy you continue towards the South for another 5 kms, a deviation will be found to the left that after a couple of kilometres handed Comino to the parking lot of the beach of Head.
