The Chateau Chiraud is a unique property with a warm welcome located in the Haute Vienne area of the Limousin. It has a special atmosphere with a comfortable, well-designed interior and spacious grounds that makes it perfect for a relaxing holiday with family or friends at any time of the year. Set within a 4 acre walled park with hundred-year-old trees the chateau has been entirely renovated to provide every modern comfort whilst retaining the original design and features. All bedrooms have fine linen and duck-down duvets and all five bathrooms have limestone tiling, waffle bathrobes and windows onto the gardens. Outside the Chateau Chiraud you can relax on one of the designer loungers by the large 12m x 6m heated pool with naturally filtered crystal clear water or dine alfresco with space for 12.

The Limousin / Auvergne / Haute-Vienne region
Le Dorat has one of the most important 12th Century Romanesque churches in the region, the Collegiale de St. Pierre and the only fortified gate of the period in the Limousin. It also has a wide range of shops, a supermarket, bars, restaurants, a weekly market and a Limoges porcelain factory outlet store. Oradour sur Glane, (45kms): A moving memorial to the atrocity of war in this preserved ruin of an entire village after the massacre of June 10th 1944.

Montmorrilion (25kms) is an interesting medieval city and one of eight communities in Europe specialising in the publishing and associated crafts connected with books. Limoges (55kms): A fusion of two cities until the French Revolution it has an interesting collection of historical buildings and churches. There is a wide range of specialist shops, outlets from all the major porcelain producers and a diverse choice of restaurants. Sports: Horseriding – available within 12kms, Kayaking centre – on the Gartempe river, 12 kms.

Further details indoors: Ground floor: The Hall: four imposing granite steps lead up to the main entrance to the chateau and then though double doors into the hall. There is an impressive oak staircase leading to the first floor and doors leading to the main drawing room, kitchen, downstairs bedroom and lavatory. Drawing Room: Bright and comfortable, the room has a large sofa and chairs for relaxing whilst looking out of the French doors past the fountain to the park. A cool room in the summer and somewhere to rest from the sun yet cosy in the winter with an efficient log burner. From the drawing room there are double doors leading to the TV/sitting room and dining room. With both these sets of doors open it provides a fantastic open living space ideal for entertaining whilst listening to music on the Linn stereo. Dining Room: the elegant dining room comfortably seats 14 at the designer B&B Italia table and has stunning views over the countryside towards the local town of Le Dorat. In winter you can see the church spire 3kms away whilst in the summer the scent of the lime trees drifts into the sunlit room. The leather chairs make dining an incredibly relaxing and comfortable treat especially if your host has prepared dinner for you. The best quality table linen and white Limoges porcelain make any occasion special. TV/Sitting Room: ideal for relaxing whilst reading a book, playing the piano or just sitting watching a film on the comfy chairs this room has a stucco ceiling, marble fireplace and polished oak floors. There is a TV, satellite, DVD/video and a library of various books and films at your disposal. Downstairs Bedroom: this king size room is accessed from the main hall and provides a perfect bedroom for anyone who has difficulty with stairs. Attached to this bedroom is a shower room with an oversized shower, WC and basin. There is also a small room attached with 2 single beds allowing this to be a perfect space for people with young children alleviating the worry of stairs. Kitchen: with steps leading straight out to the garden, the kitchen ideally situated for dining by the pool in summer. Fully equipped with everything a good kitchen should have such as an electric cooker with gas hob, dishwasher, coffee machine, all utensils, china and glass. For the winter months there is an additional wood burner. Leading from the kitchen is the utility room. Utility Room: in the utility room you will find the washing machine, tumble dryer and a large American fridge / freezer with ice maker and water cooler. Just off the Utility room is the laundry / drying room. Laundry / Drying Room: a convenient place to dry and iron all your washing behind a closed door out of sight! Downstairs lavatory: just by the front door is the downstairs lavatory conveniently placed when outside by the pool or in the park. First floor: The impressive oak stairs with a unique balustrade design leads to the first floor with the remaining bedrooms and bathrooms. Bedroom 1: accessed directly from the landing the main bedroom is a large 26sqm with a king size bed. With polished oak floors and double doors opening onto a balcony with stunning views over the fountain, park and beyond. There is a white marble fireplace with gilded mirror, a dressing table and chests of drawers. Connected to bedroom 1 through a lockable door is a further bedroom with double-bed and a further single bed if required making a perfect two-room suite for parents and children. It has a large walk-in wardrobe and a large armoir. With separate access to the hall this room can also be used independently. Bathrooms: situated in each of the towers are four upstairs bathrooms with full height windows onto the gardens. Each has designer fittings with limestone tiles, oversize showers, a WC and sink. They are equipped with towels, bathrobes and hairdryers. Bedroom 3: with another king size bed this 22sqm bedroom has polished floors, a dressing table and red marble fireplace. Bedroom 4: double bed with a cream painted floor. Bedroom 5: double bed with fireplace and polished floors.
Further details outdoors: After passing the old coach house and through the cast iron gates you can either approach the Chateau Chiraud up the lavender lined drive or go straight to the tranquil 12m x 6m chlorine free swimming pool which is securely protected by a wall and hedge. A perfect place to relax, it is heated to a constant 28 degrees. Or soak up the sun on the comfortable designer loungers. With seating for 12, you can enjoy lunches, evening meals or barbeques by the pool. Or you can switch on the underwater lights and go for a late night dip. The park is just what your children need: a safe place where they can run around and enjoy the freedom to ride one of the bikes available, play volleyball, football or cricket. The walled park with many mature trees offers lots of places to shelter from the midday sun and a large table with further seating for 12 is at the front of the house as an alternative place for a drink or to dine outside.
