Brimming with character but with all modern conveniences the property is restored to cater for your every need. “Getting away from it all” acquires new meaning with 100 acres of private walks and paths to traverse, spectacular views at every turn. It is a place apart from the usual pace of life.

Relax in the evening in front of an open fire after a day spent walking or cycling in the Sperrins. (Wood for the fire is produced on the farm.) The local network of quiet country roads are ideal for walking/cycling whilst for driving this central Ulster location is within easy distance of the North, East and West coasts. The local mountain biking trails in Gortin and Davagh cycling track are both within a 10-15 min drive.

Within the Cottage the traditional living room features half-door, open fire with crane crook, culcie (fireside) bed and original stone flagged floor. Adjoining the living room is a modern fitted kitchen with hand crafted Irish elm dining table. Next to the living room is a traditionally furnished double bedroom with luxury bathroom comprising roll top bath, walk in shower and adjoining sun room. The sun room features panoramic views of the surrounding countryside with chaise longue seating on which to relax, or double as extra sleeping accommodation.

Within the Barn the kitchen/living room features an open fire, unique handcrafted Irish elm dining table and French door leading to patio. The adjoining spacious porch is ideal for relaxing and enjoying views of the surrounding countryside. The bathroom is on the ground floor, with both loft style bedrooms located on the first floor. The main bedroom is traditionally furnished with antique pine dressing table and wardrobe and a double bedstead. The second bedroom has a single bed with pull-out bed for extra accommodation.

Stables are located adjacent to Pollán Rua Barn and a section has been specially adapted to provide quality separate accommodation for pets. A covered area is provided for bicycles and is perfect for an evening barbecue.

Locally facilities in Greencastle include a supermarket/pub/filling station and post office while the a little further the village of Gortin comprises restaurants, pubs, shops, post office and bank. The local market towns of Omagh and Cookstown are both within a half hours drive.

"If you could picture the most perfect romantic Irish cottage, Pollan Rua is it."

Pollan is the real deal, a centuries old stone cottage and barn brought back to life by Charlie and Bernadette's conscientious restoration. White-washed stone walls and panoramic views of gorgeous and remote Sperrin Valley from both the tv room and enormous bathroom. The kitchen tables were made by Charlie from single giant slabs of the last fellings of Irish Elm. We stayed for a week in February and the garden was already crammed with snowdrops and daffodils, the house was so toasty - underfloor heating - and the fireplaces set with turf for us when we arrived. The owners' husbandry of the land extends beyond the grounds of the house itself, they've reclaimed surrounding pockets as sheltered havens for wildlife and flowers to thrive. It's a magic place.
