House | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 5
Casa Vieja is an old renovated house in the medieval area of the white Andalusian town of Olvera in the south west of Spain.
We do not know when the house was first built but it features in a photo from the late 19th century. It has been comfortably renovated but with enough character (wooden beams, interesting alcoves) to make it a fun place to stay, ideal for singles and families alike.
Olvera benefits from excellent amenities, a Moorish castle, a majestic church and an ideal location for cultural, outdoor and gastronomic tourism.
The main cities of Malaga, Sevilla, Granada, Jerez, Cadiz and Cordoba as well as smaller but equally rewarding centres are all close enough for day trips.
The surrounding countryside is ideal for walking and bird watching (flamingos and griffon vultures to name but 2 are close by).
The Via Verde de la Sierra starts below the town and is perfect for cycling or hiking as are the network of dirt tracks and small roads.
The Sierras of Grazalema and Las Nieves are also close by for those who prefer walking in National Parks. Paragliding, caving, swimming and kayaking (on the reservoir at Zahara) are also popular.
