BookThe Andalucia / Cadiz Province region
There are many places to visit in and around Olvera. Its a great base to explore Andalucia. Granada, Seville, Malaga, Jerez, Gibraltar, The Costa del Sol, The Costa de la Luz, and further afield Cordoba and Almeria, or the ski slopes of Almeria's Sierra Nevada.
There are lakes at Ardales just over 30mins drive and Zahara 20mins drive, both have excellent facilities.
The Costa del Sol is an hour and half away by car. Our favourite beaches are the Costa de La Luz; around an hour and half away. We love Conil de la Frontera with its huge stretches of white clean sand, perfect for the kids! Next door to Conil you have the beaches of El Palmer, a surf paradise! Further south, Tarifa is the home of the windsurfers (lessons can be arranged!) and is about 2 hours. Other nice beaches are found at Rota and the surrounding area. Picnics can be pre booked.
The Olvera area
Golf is within 45 mins of Olvera on good easy access roads. Antequera and Arcos de la Frontera are both within easy reach and very popular with the locals. You also have the Costa del Sol golf courses in under an hour and a half.
Car hire is recommended, although if you don’t want to drive airport transfers can be arranged. We can even arrange for you to have an evening and/or day in Ronda, Zahara or other equally lovely places; and collect you at a time of your choosing.
Airports: Malaga 90 mins by car, Granada 90 mins by car, Sevilla 90 mins by car, Jerez De La Frontera 70 mins by car, Gibraltar 120 mins by car. We can provide a number of a very reliable car hire company, no waiting at the airport!
There are churches and of course the castle to visit.
There is a abundance of bars and restaurants in Olvera.
The famous VIA VERDE (Green Walkway) starts in Olvera, its possible to do the walk on horses, or to hire a bike.
The lakes are close and Zahara has a wonderful "beach" open in summer, a man-made area with natural spring water.
Cities: Malaga 90 mins by car. Granada 90 mins by car. Sevilla 90 mins by car. Jerez De La Frontera 70 mins by car. Gibraltar 120 mins by car. Ronda 30 mins by car. Pruna 5 mins by car and 20 mins walking. ''Via Verde'' walk 38km along Green nature walkways. Moron De La frontera 30 mins by car. Campillos 30 mins. Arcos De La Frontera 45 mins by car. Had a week stay here and very glad we did. Lovely little town full of funny friendly people. The accommodation couldn't have been much better, with wifi internet, a cosy bed and a patio complete with a lemon tree! I was in hog heaven! |

This house is well presented, clean and comfortable (we had everything we needed), well modernised, helpful local contacts - perfect base to get to know the country around. In a typical Spanish street, and with all the amenities you need in walking distance, just lovely! Patio overlooking the hillside (in the middle of town!) is perfect with a drink in the evening. |

Olvera is nicely situated for easy access to Jerez, Seville, Corduba, Gibralter, Malaga, and Granada! It's not a tourist town, which we love, the people are warm and friendly and have time for you. Lemon Tree patio suited all of our requirements perfectly, kitchen, microwave, washer, a wonderful patio, TV and video. What more could you ask for? |
