**Fethiye - Picturesque harbour and market town, with large yacht rental community! Fethiye is an unspoilt resort with street markets, a busy bazaar area, and lively water front harbour (daily links during the summer to the Island of Rhodes, Greece) and a large marina. As Turkey is not in the EU, the standard of living is a lot cheaper than the UK. Eating out is also very good value for money. There is a huge market held on Tuesday and Saturday with endless food stalls along with clothes, leather goods, handbags, carpets, shoes, herbs & spices, Turkish delight, local lace and trinkets. Haggling with the stall holders is a must! This is the best and cheapest place to buy fruit, vegetables, spices, cheese etc. There is a central area where you can buy something to eat and drink, the chicken doner is fantastic, as are the local pancakes! Very reasonable prices as well. **For fish lovers go to the nearby fish market where you can buy fresh fish daily. Restaurants around the market will cook it for you. There are two good butchers close to the fish market and a few fruit and vegetable stalls that are open daily. **History in the area is endless, so great for sight seeing as well. Lycian tombs at Tlos and Telmessos, dating back to the 4th century BC, Dalyan mud baths and turtle beaches here and at Patara, Old Greek ghost town at Kayakoyu. There are also jeep safaris and a variety of other excursions to choose from. Local reasonably priced boat trips around the beautiful Fethiye bay are well worth the trip and usually include lunch in the price. Fethiye beach has various water sports to offer. **Ovacik - Beautiful pine forests and countryside! Ovacik is nestled in hills adjacent to Hisaronu and Olu Deniz lagoon - a place to go with flow, do whatever you want, whenever you want. This small area neighbouring Hisaronu is genuinely low key, chilled out - a place to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and absorb the epic mountain views. A wonderful start to mountain walks and views **Hisaronu Weather With a central locality on the Turquoise Coast of Turkey, Hisaronu features a typical Mediterranean climate with extensive, hot summers and mild winters. Positioned at an elevation of more than 450m above sea level and situated at an altitude of high plateau at the foreland of the spectacular Bagadad Mountains, Hisaronu's climate remains slightly cooler (2 to 4Deg) and more refreshed than that in Olu Deniz, assuring year round low humidity levels and a pleasing climate. Spring The months of spring will commonly see loads of warm sunny weather, with a seasonal temperature averaging around 15°C and approximately eight hours of sunny weather per day. Activities such as walking and cycling are an enjoyable pleasure at this time of the year. Summer The climates gradually rise from an average of 18°C to 26°C, often peaking above 30°-35°C in mid summer. However, as a result of the high altitude the typical weather always remains three to four degrees cooler than that in the coastal resorts of Fethiye and Olu Deniz. The mountain breezes are particularly effective throughout July and August when the temperatures are at their highest. An average of thirteen hours a day sunlight throughout the summer months. Autumn Autumn typically sees climates similar to that in spring with temperatures averaging between 15°C to 18°C and rainfall uncommon. Autumn will see plenty on sunshine right throughout the season. Winter The winter in Hisaronu is mild to cold, with average temperatures lingering at 9°C in December, and January and February can drop to as low as 6°C. Winter is very wet as the area receives around 1000mm of rainfall annually, mostly in January, February and March. Nevertheless there is at least five hours of warm sunshine
The Olu Deniz / Ovacik Heights area
**Hisaronu - Friendly and Lively! Hisaronu is an inland resort nestling in the cool, pine-clad mountains above the splendid beach of Olu Deniz; a regular dolmus service covers the 4 kilometres between the two resorts. In Hisaronu you will find bustling streets lined with shops, bars and restaurants, as well some lively night spots. Market day is on a Monday where you will find an abundance of souvenirs, leather foods, clothing and local produce. **Olu Deniz - Beach front bars and restaurants Just a 5 minute ride via dolmus will take you to Olu Deniz where you will find a beach edged with a magnificent turquoise lagoon and picturesque mountainscapes. Soak up the sun or if feeling more energetic experience various watersports. Daily boat tours around the 6 islands are very reasonable and wonderful photographs can be had. There are plenty of bars and resurants to relax, quench your thirst and watch the paragliders floating down on to the beach. The sunset is spectacular!! ** A ''must-have'' experience for the more adventurous is to enjoy the adrenaline rush of leaping from the top of Baba Dag mountain to paraglide over the lagoon. Soak up the once in a life time view's, before eventually landing on the sandy water's edge and a Cool beer!

The apartment was great. It had everything we required for a fantastic, relaxing holiday. It's beautifully furnished, spacious, clean and well equipped. There'a a nice children pool, as well as large main pool with nice cool water. Views from all 3 balconies are beautiful. If you won't decide to try paragliding, which we did and had so much fun, at least get to the top of Babadag mountain, as the views are breathtaking. We have rented a car so we have visited lots of lovely beaches. Kabak beach is amazing. I must say that our overall experience was fantastic and very relaxing. We'll definitely return to the property again. Response: Very many thanks for the review. We are very pleased that it was what you expected and will hope to welcome you again in the future to Orka Park, No Y-4. Your Hosts, Warwick & Nadia. |

We stayed 11 days on this beautiful location and never get bored. The apartment was "as advertised", everything you need you will find there. Even now, one week after departure we are yearning... It was like "home". A stunning view from balcony, moon rising from Babadag Mountains reflecting in pool's water, paragliding above those mountains... Definitely a place to remember, unforgettable memories... Response: Would like to thank you for the kind words and am glad that you found everything that you wanted. I will make sure that the kitchen utensils are added to for next years visitors. I know what you mean about the pool and the moon over the mountains really, really spectacular. Hope that we see you again in the future, best regards Warwick |

We stayed in this apartment as a family of 2 adults and 4 children aged from 16 to 9. We booked in Feb before travelling in late June, communication was excellent between the owner and ourselves and we had no problems with booking and any queries were answered promptly. The property is situated in Ovacik on the mountainside which offers a cool breeze and stunning views. It sits on a small development maintained by ORKA who appear to be a major concern in the area owning the hotel which we had free access to and I seen a lot of advertising by them. the front of the property overlooks the pool and bar area and the rear looks over the town of Ovacik and Hisaronu , the sun rises at the front of the property and sets at the rear , this allows for some simply awe inspiring sunsets from the balcony adjoining the master bedroom. We opted to have transfers from the airport arranged when we booked the apartment, this all went very smoothly as a representative from ORKA met with us at the airport and provided us with cold drinks for the journey, on arrival at the property we found a reception that was manned 24hrs and we were shown the apartment and given brief instructions on working the essentials such as air-con etc. we were all pleased with how smoothly this all went as we arrived in the middle of the night. First impressions of the apartment were all good; it looks brand new in décor and furnishing and feels spacious. The main bedroom was adjacent to the living room, it was a good sized room with dressing table and slide robes and plenty of storage and mirrors and sockets and it had a balcony furnished with comfortable seating, there isn't much to look out at during the day but in the evening the sunsets are stunning. The bedroom was not ensuite but instead had a separate shower/toilet. I feel it was worth noting that all the bedrooms had decent mattresses' The other bedrooms were upstairs; one was a large double and the other a large twin. The double bedroom had good storage and a balcony area that overlooked the pool/bar area. The twin room had decent storage space but no balcony and only a small skylight window. Each bedroom had a good quality air-conditioning unit operated by remote control and very customisable. The rooms upstairs were split by a shower/toilet and masses of storage space in units spaced along the hallway again handy for the women as they had power points and mirrors. There was also a safe here. We were all happy with the sleeping space in particular the decent mattresses' and coolness offered by the air-con and the views from both the balconies. It may be worth noting that perhaps 2 adults would not enjoy the twin room due to lack of bay windows or balcony but it was perfect for the younger of the children. The living room was very spacious and gain had a large balcony adjacent with 6 seated suite for alfresco dining. It also has a large dining area inside with similar seating again nicely positioned by the bay windows overlooking the pool/bar area. It is worth noting that the living space and apartment in general was tastefully decorated giving a spacious, bright modern feel. The living room was also equipped with air-conditioning and a large TV with DVD and satellite, there was also a selection of DVDs and books in the case but we didn't use them. I had the TV on and there was a good selection of English channels, I was impressed with the Dubai racing channel as it showed the national hunt racing from UK and Ireland. There was two coffee tables both of which came in handy for leaving stuff and a large sofa with loads of cushions , between the sofa and dining table our party of 6 did not feel cramped at anytime. I was particularly impressed with the kitchen area; it was rear facing so again you had the stunning views of the sunset. It was equipped with a large American style fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine, toaster and kettle, everything you would need. The range of cookware impressed me, SHARP KNIVES! So many times I've stayed in apartments with useless cookware, credit must be given for quality knives and pots and cookware, makes it so much easier to cook a decent meal! Wide range of all the plates, bowls etc., everything one would need. The washing machine was In Turkish but we managed to work it out, that was handy too as meant we could get kids clothes washed. All in all I would find it hard to find fault with the apartment for our party size. Well maintained with everything we needed. It felt spacious and we had no problems whatsoever, a comfortable living space for the two weeks we were all there. The ORKA group who manage the site are very good too, our transfers and introduction by all the staff was fantastic and we felt looked after the entire time. We did use the ORKA hotel on occasion and some of the themed nights are well worth a visit, perhaps a bit expensive for the food but the entertainment and dancing is of a very high standard and worth the price. We did find the hotel pool fun with the slides for the kids but it's hard to find 6 sunbeds for a large group all together so we preferred the pool at the apartment, it was always nice and quiet and had a cool breeze coming off the mountain, also had a small bar which served snacks as well so it suited us better. Worth noting that the hotel runs a shuttle bus to and from the apartment, you just give them a call and they come collect you and return you when you want, also worth noting that a lot of places will do this! We went to sugar beach and kings restaurant both of which collected us and returned us. One thing I missed at the complex was a Wi-Fi connection however I was told they were waiting on it being installed so it's likely that it will be in use now. It should be noted that the location of the complex is at the top of a steep hill. This may put some off but it caused us no problems even with the young children, it's a dawdle walking down but harder coming up!! So if you have buggies or elderly folk then you should maybe cost in the taxi fare. We did not like the glare and noise of that Hisaronu place so we were happy to be in a complex that was perfectly quiet and peaceful, there are a small selection of bars on the walk into town, we only used one on the corner which was nice, It had Wi-Fi and I could have a beer while waiting on 5 women getting ready above! I suppose it would take you 5 minutes to walk to the dolmus on the way down and maybe 15 on the way up. We always walked down and just got a taxi back in the evening, around 10TL for the 6 of us. But there are the shuttle buses and most of the tours also pick you up and drop you off. I liked the location, it was very quiet yet only a short walk from town, it was high in the mountains so had a nice breeze and great views. Perhaps of benefit if I mention that we had never been to turkey before and give a brief view of the surrounding area. The town of Ovacik isn't really much, a few bars and restaurants and hotels but has a nice feel. Seems like it has kind of sprung up and developed as tourism has evolved. At the bottom of the hill from the apartment you have Hisaronu a short walk to the left, it's a mad place, not my cup of tea at all, if you like loud noise, neon lights and touristy tat then fill your boots, and it has all that with bells on. Blackpool in the sun. We did eat there and the teenagers loved it, couple of nice places we found but way over the top. If you get to the bottom of the hill and get a dolmus going left then a short journey takes you to oludeniz with the beach and a selection of beach bars and restaurants. It has a nice feel to it and it's hard not to enjoy a sundowner in buzz bar or terrace with the views! But again it has a lot of that neon stuff in one of the streets; I preferred the restaurants just off the main strips, also cheaper! Worth mentioning sugar beach, it's on the lagoon and pretty chilled out and quiet and spacious. But I felt like a walking pound sign in the place , I think it may have been the place to be many years ago when it was an honest beach bar but now I feel it's all about the money and a tad false. Still worth a day out anyways and make your own mind up! There's a few similar type places advertised on the lagoon. From the bottom of the hill you can go right which takes you to Fetiye , sadly I didn't get to spend as much time here as I would of liked , its seems like a great place , lot of good restaurants and more of an authentic feel to it. We only got to eat there twice but I was told of a fish market where you can buy your fish and take it to the restaurant to be cooked, that sounded a nice evening but we had the kids and they weren't interested in all that so sadly Fetiye wasn't explored as it should have been. There are lots of activities in the area, you won't be long being told about them when you venture from the calm of the apartment!! they are all very good and reasonable priced and a great day out, I really enjoyed the yachts, for around £100 you can charter your own cruiser around the islands or for £15 take a small boat tour, I found the diving best value, great little cruiser and only about 7 people on it, few secluded bays for a day's diving and lunch included. We did a lot of the tours and enjoyed them all with the exception of the dalyan mud baths. Oh and a last mention to the ghost village and some nice restaurants around there. All in all we had a very enjoyable time and appreciated the comforts of the apartment as a quiet and secluded base to both start and end the busy days. The area is packed with things to do and days out and for our group there was enough going on to keep everyone happy. I asked all the group and everyone said they loved the apartment and its location and the staff at the poolside and want to return again next year, so I would have no hesitation in recommending the property to potential customers. Response: I have to say that your review is really, really appreciated, particularily considering the time it must have taken you to write! Cannot thank you enough for the compliments! When we bought the apartment we wanted it to be a ''home from home'' for our guests and hoped that out taste and our quality requirements would be well received. We know that holidays are a precious commodity in our stressful day and age. It would appear that our hopes have been justified! Again many thanks for the lovely thoughts and the great recommendation. Hope to see you all back again next year! |
