Here at Les Granges we offer 3 self-contained units which can be rented as a whole, providing spacious accommodation for up to 14 adults with extra beds for children and babies. An ideal base for a family get together or groups . Events can be organised for groups of 6+, for walkers, mountain biker, cyclists, rafting options and skiing. Meals can also be provided. Our 3 self-contained gites divide as a 1 bedroom gite (1 double bed and double sofabed in lounge), 2 bedroom gite (one double room and 1 twin room) and a 3 bedroom gite (2 double rooms, 1 twin room with double sofabed), extra beds/cots available for babies/children. Therefore, in total, there are 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms/shower rooms, 5 toilets, 3 lounge/dining room/kitchens, playroom, utility room. Outdoor space includes terraces, large gardens and pool with sundeck area and parking.

Les Granges is located in the pretty village of Ance, which is 10 mins from the local market town of Oloron Ste Marie,which has a beautiful cathedral and the main Gave d'Oloron running through it. There are many restaurants and shops and the local market runs on Friday mornings.

A wealth of acitivities, you can enjoy cycling, walking, fishing, swimming, climbing, parapenting, horse riding, quad biking, kayaking, skiing and lots more! The scenery is stunning with the mountains and trees and waterfalls and the birds of prey soaring the skies. The beaches of Biarritz and St Jean de Luz are about an hour and half away and Spain is less than an hour. The city of Pau, the capital of the Béarn region, is about an hour and has cobbled streets and boutiques.

This really is a stunning area to explore and is easily accessible and is central to a wealth of activities. The gîtes are a 'home from home', being well furnished and equipped with beautiful surroundings and breathtaking views of the mountains.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Pyrenees Atlantiques region

The gite is situated at the foothills of the Pyrénées in the Béarn region of South West France, 10 km from the market town of Oloron Ste Marie, the town where the French beret was invented! Famous for it's local produce of 'brebis' cheese, Madiran and Jurançon wines, garbure (soup) and of course the mountains, the area is rural France at its best.

We have definite seasons here, the summer being hot with lovely blue skies during the day and clear skies at night, showing fantastic star constellations. When the heat builds up it storms, usually overnight, producing amazing lightning displays over the mountains. The autumn is beautiful with the lush greenery turning orange, yellow and browns mixed with the wealth of pine trees in the forests and the waterfalls. The winter then turns colder, although it is very rare to get snow at our level, you can see the snow on the mountains, against blue skies, we have yet to find a view to beat it! Generally, the days remain bright and clear. The springtime then arrives and flowers begin to grow, the trees flourish and as the snow melts the waterfalls cascade down the mountains into the rivers. All year round, it is always beautiful here, with stunning views and scenery.

There are lots of nature walks, cycling is very popular, gorges to visit and Les Grottes (ancient caves with stalagmites and stalagtites). Biarrritz and St Jean de Luz, on the South West coast,are about an hour and a half away and Spain is about an hour.

Many of the visitor attractions are closed during the winter, so run from May to October, as the winter months, from December to April, everyone skis and enjoys the snow. If you don't ski, hiring a set of rackets (walking shoes for snow) and walking amongst the snow tipped pine trees is just as enjoyable, or it's never too late, you could learn to ski!

Oloron-Sainte-Marie / Ance area

Aquabearn Water Park, 20 mins drive, with slides, pools, picnic areas, restaurants, etc. Olorn pool with indoor and outdoor pools, slides, picnic area, etc is 10 min drive and local outdoor pool 5 min drive. Aquabearn and the local pool is seasonal only from June to September.

Adventure Park, 10 min drive, with harness and safety equipment you climb through the trees and can abseil and bungee jump, if you want! Quad biking, 4x4 off-roading and go-carting 10 min drive, mainly for adolescents and adults.

Rock climbing, kayaking and white water rafting are 15/20 mins away. The amazing Gorge de Kakouetta is about 30 mins drive, where you can walk through the Gorge with its waterfalls and flowing river, stop for a picnic and take in the view. There is horse riding, skiing (winter only), parascending, fishing and lots more! Golf at Pau, play the oldest golf course in mainland Europe.

They are well-furnished, comfortable holiday homes, all recently restored having tiled and wood floors and exposed beams and stonework. They provide good quality, spacious living accommodation and, to date, we have had no complaints! All our guests comment on how clean and spacious they are and how well presented. We take pride in what we offer and want you to enjoy your holiday here.

A stunning corner plot of about 2500 m2, each individual gite has its own private terrace or balcony, you also have access to the southfacing, walled communal garden area (shared with the owners) which is designed to provide a safe playing area for children and adults. The paddock area is ideal for relaxing among the fruit trees, taking in the stunning views of the mountains and watching the birds of prey soar the skies. The playing area in the garden has a trampoline (with safety net), swing set and slide and various toys. There are 2 goal posts and other nets for badminton or volleyball. Just mind the vegetable garden and resident scarecrow! The pool area has been designed so it is not easy for little ones to wonder into, being accessed either side by a small staircase and lockable gates then onto the sundeck area. Our southfacing sundeck is approximately 60m2 and has various sun loungers, tables and chairs and parasols. The pool is 9.45m x 4.5m and is one depth of 1.2m and can only be accessed via the steps from the sundeck area and is perfect for cooling down in the hot sun.

The maximum amount of people is 16 (excluding babies). The charge is based on 16 people being divided as a 4, 4 and 8 amongst the 3 gites. The maximum rental charge being £1680 , which is £15 per person, per night. Our charge for 12 people is divided as a 4 and 8 among our 2 larger gites. If you require exclusivity with all 3 gites, please let us know at time of booking. An additional charge of £350 will be added for exclusivity of Les Granges for parties of 12.

Our charges will include bed linen and towels, electric not included in winter lets.

WE REQUIRE 50% OF THE RENTAL CHARGE ON BOOKING WITH THE FINAL BALANCE DUE 12 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE HOLIDAY START DATE. BREAKAGES DEPOSIT OF £500 REQUIRED WITH THE FINAL PAYMENT, WHICH WILL BE RETURNED WITHIN 14 DAYS OF YOUR DEPARTURE DATE, SUBJECT TO EVERYTHING BEING IN ORDER.

MEALS PROVIDED ON ARRIVAL - Why not treat yourself and have a meal prepared for you on arrival. We will have a meal ready for you in your gite, so all you have to do is pop it in the oven! . We can offer 4 courses, menu to suit you with wine and coffee included for 20€ per head. TYPICAL MENU: tomato and mozzarella salad, lasagne, platter of local cheeses and fruit tart - PAYMENT FOR MEALS REQUIRED WITH FINAL RENTAL CHARGE
