The house is a restored XIV century building located in a Pyrenean Valley just South of Pau and close to Lourdes. The house has a large private garden and overlooks a river (Gave d''ossau). It is perfectly loacted for mountain walks and trekking as well as sampling the local food/wine (Jurançon)

The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

The House is located in the Béarn province in the Ossau Valley. It is an area rich in hitsory and cooking. Sights include Pau (chateau and Museum) Lourdes (Grotto) and many smaller castle and churches.

The region is home the the fine wineyards of Jurançon (sweet white wine) and some particularly fine cheeses (Sheep, cow and goat) as well as a unique gastronomy (charcuterie and garbure)

The summer is usually warm and sunny with a few thunderstorms in late August and September. Many lakes can be found in the vicinity, ideal stopping places for family walks.

The big local festival is on the 15th August with 2-3 days of festivaties culminating in a traditionnal costume procession in Laruns.


The house is located in the Ossau valley, 25 miles from Pau, in the middle of teh Pyrenees Mountains. It is an ideal place to explore the westren Pyrenees, with famous pic such the Pic du Midi d'Ossau (2885 m) or the Pic d'Anie. Canyoning, Kayaking climbing and other mountai activities are all available within a short distance.

The Spanish border is only 25 miles away, and is reached via the col du Portalet.

About 1h30 drive from the House, guests can enjoy the famed confort of Biarrizt and the Basque Country with its unique culture and gastronomy.
