Home description
This modern, detached, villa with private swimming pool and garden, sleeps 8 in comfort and has the possibility to sleep a further 2 occasionally. It is located on the edge of the medieval village of Cesseras in the heart of the Minervois wine-producing region.
Cesseras is situated at the foot of the Montagne Noir - a lovely, rather peaceful location amongst the vineyards and yet it is only 5 minutes drive from Olonzac, a small town which offers a good selection of shops, cafe-bars, restaurants, a supermarket and a weekly market. Here you have the best of both worlds - quiet and peaceful, and yet just a short drive to the local town.
Villa Trencavel is a family-owned holiday home which has a welcoming large open plan living space, two double bedrooms, two twin bedrooms (one of which is ideal for older children) a bathroom with a bath, and a shower room. The bedrooms are on different sides of the property and therefore the villa ideally lends itself to two families holidaying together, a multi-generational family, or a group of friends.
The property is located on the edge of Cesseras in an elevated position, but within easy walking distance of the centre. It has lovely views over the surrounding countryside. The swimming pool area has especially stunning views which extend over the plain of the River Aude to the Pyrenees in the far distance.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Herault region
This part of the Languedoc has a sunny Mediterranean climate. It can be hot in summer, but the temperature is often tempered by a breeze. Now the 3rd most visited region in France by British people, the Languedoc offers something for everyone.
Miles of long, sandy beaches, coastal lagoons, vibrant cities such as Narbonne and Montpellier, historical sites such as Carcassonne and the Cathar castles, fabulous scenery, great cuisine and vineyards, vineyards, vineyards.
Olonzac / Cesseras area
A 3-minute walk will find you in the centre of Cesseras. Here is a popular bar, and a village shop providing bread, croissants and other day-to-day needs. Within a 5-minute drive is the small town of Olonzac which has more shops, a supermarket, a petrol station, banks, bars, restaurants, pharmacies, a post office and a weekly market on a Tuesday morning.
This area is great for walking, hiking and cycling (ask us for details of a local cycle hire company who can deliver bikes to your door). The area immediately behind the property has some interesting countryside with vineyards and fruit trees on the lower slopes, and the wilder 'garrigue' higher up. Details of the local walks are provided for you. Easy cycling can be enjoyed on the Aude plain or along the Canal du Midi - just a few kilometres away. For the more adventurous you can cycle in the hilly countryside towards Minerve and the Gorge de Cesse.
The local tennis court is a 2-minute walk away and a key is provided for you. Please bring your own equipment.
Watersports can be enjoyed locally at the Lac du Jouarres - 10 minutes drive away, or at the Mediterranean coastal resorts - 45 minutes drive away.
Sightseeing: There is an abundance of attractions in this area - it's hard to know where to start. But a visit would not be complete without a trip to the medieval city of Carcassonne, the lively and attractive town of Narbonne, the Canal du Midi, the beach resorts of Gruissan, St Pierre La Mer and Narbonne-Plage, the vineyards of the Minervois and Corbieres, Minerve - just 8kms away, the abbeys at Fontfroide and Lagrasse and the Cathar Castles. More information on sightseeing days out is available on request.
The markets in the area sell an enormous variety of goods especially local, fresh seasonal produce, herbs, cheeses, spicy sausages and wine. As well as the Tuesday morning market in Olonzac, there are good markets in Narbonne on a Thursday and a Sunday - and the fantastic indoor food market in Les Halles is open everyday until lunchtime.
Restaurants: In the nearby village of Azillanet there's a lovely old auberge open in the summer months providing very well-priced food in a lovely garden setting. Olonzac has 3 restaurants, and other excellent ones can be found in Homps, and other villages such as Oupia, Beaufort and Aigne.
Supermarket: The nearest one is in Olonzac - 5 minutes drive away. There's a further one in Homps that has extended opening hours and is open on a Sunday.
