This 'extra-special' gite is one of 5 lovely gites at this location. This gites are for adult couples only, and are situated in the garden and beside the swimming pool of a 100 year old residence, once belonging to a wealthy wine producer and trader, in the lively town of Olonzac, the 'capital' of the Minervois. A new outdoor spa pool/jacuzzi has recently beed installed for relaxing in after a day's sight-seeing.

The owners here have thought about everything to make your stay more comfortable and enjoyable.

Gite Topaze Dorée is extra 'light and airy' having two french windows; one opening out onto your own private paved terrace area with table, chairs and barbecue, and the other opening onto the general terrace, garden and pool area of this lovely holiday property. It could be great for wedding anniversary celebration, a romantic holiday for two, or for house-hunting in the area!!

Converted from the stable and original staff quarters of the old house, this end-of-terrace gite comprises a comfortable living room and galley-style kitchenette on the ground floor, decorated in the Provencal style, and a spacious twin bedroom and shower room on the first floor. Gite Topaze Dorée is situated in Olonzac which has shops, bars, restaurants, take-aways and a fantastic Tuesday morning market - all just a few steps away.

The large swimming pool and the spa pool/jacuzzi is in the garden and there are plenty of sun-loungers.

Despite being in the town, the garden location here is both calm and enchanting. The municipal park next door was once part of the garden and now provides a pleasant place to stroll.

Gite Topaze Dorée is well recommended, particularly as the owners are very flexible about your arrival and departure dates, subject to availability (minimum stay 3 nights). They go out of their way to make you welcome and have a good knowledge of the region. They are also licensed to sell beer, pastis and wine to guests only and on the terrace of the large house.

The Languedoc-Roussillon region

This part of the Languedoc has a sunny Mediterranean climate. It can be hot in summer, but the temperature is often tempered by a breeze. Now the 3rd most visited region in France by British people, the Languedoc offers something for everyone. Miles of long, sandy beaches, coastal lagoons, vibrant cities such as Narbonne and Montpellier, historical sites such as Carcassonne and the Cathar castles, fabulous scenery, great cuisine and vineyards, vineyards, vineyards.

Olonzac

The town of Olonzac is the 'capital' of the Minervois region and well-serviced with shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants - it's lively in summer and has its own festival in August. You can play tennis locally. At Lac du Jouarres, a short drive or bike ride away, you'll find a beach, swimming, wind-surfing and fishing. It's a great area for cycling with many interesting villages and the Canal du Midi close by.

Olonzac has a lively festival in August with street markets, festivities and live music in the park. Please enquire for the dates.

Olonzac's a great base for exploring the Minervois & wine-lovers will find many local chateaux and 'domaines' offering wine-tasting and direct sale of wine and olive-oil. Whilst here you can also visit the ancient city of Minerve, the medieval city of Carcassonne, Narbonne with its Archbishop's palace, cathedral and indoor market, Beziers and its staircase of 9 locks on the Canal du Midi at Fontseranes, the abbeys of Fontfroide and Lagrasse and the beach resorts of Narbonne- and Gruissan-Plage.

There are some good restaurants in Olonzac and the surrounding villages.
