The Costa de Prata/Silver Coast region
The coastline, with very few exceptions consists of long sandy beaches that are open to the Atlantic Ocean. There are three main fishing towns; these are Aveiro, Figueira da Foz and Nazaré. Inland the situation changes to a tourist’s haven with a wide choice of interesting and historic locations to visit. . Nowadays, there exists a direct motorway between Lisbon and Porto, this combined with the international airport has a definite effect on the future development of this area.
A very interesting way to see and feel the culture and history of this region is to stay in some of the various Pousadas, some of which are steeped in the local atmosphere and the historic architecture of this region.
Oliveira de Azemeis / Santiago de Riba-Ul area
The area of Oliveira de Azemeis is a small town close to the main beaches of the Costa de Prata region. As well as relaxing on the beach you can also take in the many historic sights of the area and visit Portugal's second city Porto.
